Wherever gamers look, the current discussion around Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is mainly negative. This has nothing to do with the core game as the original campaign and launch content proved to be a huge hit with fans. However, the fact that the main game is so popular contrasts with the community’s intense distaste for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands‘DLC.

While the disappointment in the Mirrors of Mystery short and their hefty price tags is understandable, there could be a reason why they were released rather than border areasusual extensions. While this is purely speculation, it wouldn’t be surprising if the star-studded cast for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has something to do with traditional, big DLCs not happening.

Potential Schedule Conflicts by the Celebrity Cast of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

Many of the characters at the heart of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands are voiced by some well-known celebrities. The Dragon Lord, for example, is brilliantly played by Will Arnett, with the actor doing a great job of making the character’s original story and sense of humor work so well. In addition, Tina’s two companions, Frette and Valentine, are played by Wanda Sykes and Andy Samberg.

While the Dragon Lord may not have been featured in a hypothetical expansion for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, fans would probably have wanted to see Frette and Valentine bring back. After all, they were an important part of Tina’s Bunkers and Badasses campaign, meaning it would make sense to have them around for an eventual renewal. However, both Sykes and Samberg are busy people, and scheduling conflicts could have arisen had they been asked to return for DLC. They may also have only signed up for the main game, meaning a new deal to be struck.

The Mirrors of Mystery are a perfect solution on paper, as they introduce Vesper to tell the stories that take place within them – meaning Tina’s talented actress Ashly Burch doesn’t have to be present for the DLC either. Fans would probably expect to see Frette and Valentine in a full expansion, and Tina would be an absolute must, so this could be a major reason Gearbox started looking for an alternative to expansions with Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Expansions May Have New Cast

Still, fans are desperate for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands to get a second season pass with old school expansions. Fortunately, this can also happen if Sykes and Samberg can’t return. Tina can explain that they repaired their ship and flew back into space, revealing that some new companions sat down with the newcomer to play a short game of Bunkers and Badasses. From Mad Moxxi to Zer0, there are plenty of nice Gearbox options to choose from, and it could be easier to get the actors back for these characters.

Even if Ashly Burch couldn’t return, Tina herself could have her game hijacked into an expansion, with someone like Claptrap taking over to create a truly ridiculous campaign where he’s no longer the butt of jokes. Gaige would also make a fun Bunkermaster, as would the Psycho Krieg, with the former offering a robot-focused campaign and the latter a story full of ridiculous moments. While there could be other reasons Gearbox chose not to release actual expansions for: Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, the game’s stacked cast of actors may have been one of them. However, if it was a factor, there are still ways the studio can work around the problem to make some expansions.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
