The PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers will be losing a game in the very near future, so fans should try it while they still can.
Sony has been renewed PlayStation Plus subscription service offers undeniable value, giving gamers access to hundreds of modern and retro games for a relatively low monthly fee. There are three tiers for PlayStation Plus subscribers to choose from, with PS Plus Extra essentially functioning as the now-defunct PlayStation Now service. It gives players access to a large catalog of games to stream and download, although titles flip in and out of availability rather than being there for subscribers to keep forever.
It’s rare for a game to leave the PS Plus Extra range compared to its competitors, but it’s not unheard of. Earlier this month, Shadow Warrior 3 left PS Plus Extra, which was important because it was the first PlayStation Now game on day one. And now there’s another game being removed from the PS Plus Extra lineup in the very near future, so anyone interested in trying it out should do so while they still can.
From July 19, PS Plus Extra subscribers will no longer be able to access Siberia. Siberia is a classic adventure game created by Benoit Sokal and part of a long-running series of similar story-driven titles. The version of Siberia scheduled to release PS Plus Extra on July 19, is the PlayStation 3 re-release of the game, which was originally released in 2014, a whopping 12 years after its original release.
Siberia won’t be the last game to be removed from PS Plus Extra. Two more games will be removed from the PS Plus Extra series in August, with both titles launching on August 31. NBA 2K22 and WRC 10 The PS Plus Extra games will be removed on August 30, so fans of racing and sports games may want to try them out while they are still available to play through PS Plus Extra.
On September 20, PS Plus Extra will lose one of the most notable games currently available to play on the service, because that’s the day Red Dead Redemption 2 is removed. Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most acclaimed video games of all time, which is why it could be a major blow to have it removed from the PS Plus Extra library. There are, of course, plenty of other noteworthy games available to play through PS Plus Extra, but few can agree RDR2.
And finally, on October 17, the original will be removed Red Dead Redemption as well as the stand-alone extension, Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. It’s a shame that these games have been removed from PS Plus Extra, but the good news is that subscribers have plenty of advance notice to get ready.
