One of the brand new day one Xbox Game Pass games set to launch in the second half of July 2022 has now been postponed.
One of the main selling points of Xbox Game Pass is his day one playing. Each month, Xbox Game Pass subscribers are treated to brand new, day one experiences they can play right away, giving the service incredible value. There have been a number of Xbox Game Pass games on day one in July 2022, but one of those titles that was slated to release at the end of the month has now been delayed.
Originally, the new Xbox Game Pass games for July 2022 featured Sam Barlow’s Immortality, which was tied to a July 26 release date. Unfortunately for Xbox Game Pass subscribers looking forward to playing Immortality this month, the game’s release date has been pushed back to August 30. The game is still available on Xbox Game Pass from day one, but fans will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on the game.
Sam Barlow made the announcement about Immortality‘s delay on his official Twitter account. In the announcement, Barlow explained why the decision was made to push Immortality a month back, stating that it was done to make the game “as polished as possible”. Barlow described the delay as a “necessary evil,” although many fans responded to the tweet with support for Barlow and Half Mermaid Productions.
For those unfamiliar with Barlow’s work, he creates story-adventure games that use live-action visuals, similar to 90s FMV games. But what sets Barlow’s games apart from old-school FMV titles , is the high-quality acting and writing, with Barlow winning multiple awards over the years for his titles. 2015’s Her story was especially well received by the gaming community, although 2019 Telling lies also earned mostly positive reviews.
The success of games like Her story and Telling lies that’s why many fans are eagerly looking forward to Immortality. And while they may be disappointed that they now have to wait an extra month to play the game, at least it will be a more polished experience than it would have been if it had been rushed out the door to meet his earlier announced 26 July release date.
The good news is that there should still be new Xbox Game Pass games in the second half of July 2022, even with Immortality delayed. Microsoft has yet to announce any new Xbox Game Pass games coming in the second half of July, but fans will know that story-driven game When dusk falls launches July 19, so they have one game to look forward to that day.
Immortality launches on August 30 for PC and Xbox Series X.
