Thanks to a creative Elden Ring player, the Mad Titan Thanos is invading The Lands Between as part of his personal crusade to 'save' the galaxy.
Anyone following Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe can see Marvel Studios is setting up some big things for the universe, whether it is the darker, supernatural corner or the craziness of the multiverse. None of this can happen, though, without the influence of the Mad Titan Thanos' quest to eliminate half of all life in the universe and the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. One creative Elden Ring player, with the use of the game's character creator, can now pay homage to one of the MCU's most influential characters with a fairly faithful rendition of the character.
Elden Ring, which was released in February 2022, was the highly anticipated next game from studio FromSoftware that saw it collaborate with A Song of Fire and Ice author George R.R. Martin. The game is set in the Lands Between where players take on the role of a Tarnished, an exiled warrior traversing the world in hopes of repairing the titular ring that has been fractured and scattered across the dangerous plane to become the Elden Lord. Standing between the Tarnished and shards of the ring are corrupted demigods who rule over their respective corners of the Lands Between.
Since the game's release, players have been making the most of Elden Ring's detailed character creator to bring their own wild creations or well-known characters to life as Tarnished, such as Sonic the Hedgehog or Willem Dafoe. Reddit user gbdarknight77 is one such player who flexed their creative muscles in the character creator to bring Thanos to life inside the game, channeling his early appearances in the MCU for the look. The image gbdarknight77 shares specifically harkened back to Thanos' first full-body appearance in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy, seated in his hovering throne and clad in gold armor.
Several commenters were not shy to ask gbdarknight77 how they were able to create an accurate Thanos and capture the image they ended up sharing. For the former, aside from creating a physically larger character and giving him purple skin, the armor they went with to best capture Thanos is the altered Tree Sentinel armor set. The latter was captured from the game's ending, where the player's Tarnished sits on a throne, taking their place as the new Elden Lord.
The creator's custom Thanos also, inadvertently, highlights how the Mad Titan may be one of the easier characters to create with a character creator. His build is fairly straightforward as Thanos towers over most of his adversaries, so players simply need to make a taller, muscular base character who is bald and has purple skin. The only challenge after that is finding an armor set that captures the grandiose nature of Thanos' big screen looks.
Elden Ring is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
