It seems that Ubisoft is tired of the countless leaks of their games as they recently announced a lot of brand new ones Assassin’s Creed titles at once. These titles are all very diverse, ranging from new information about Assassin’s Creed Infinityan old-fashioned linear Assassin’s Creed, and the next open-world RPG in the series. A less exciting but still incredibly interesting title announced was Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade.
This is an upcoming game that we know little about, but enough to have a basic overview of what the game is. Therefore, in this article, we will discuss everything we know about it.
Everything we know about Assassin’s Creed, codenamed Jade
With that introduction out of the way, let’s jump right into this article for everything we know Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade!
Free to play title exclusively for mobile
When Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade releases sometime in the future (no confirmed release date yet), it will be free to play and exclusive to mobile devices. This is great because on the one hand it makes the game more accessible and easier to play for a wider audience. On the other hand, free-to-play mobile titles aren’t exactly known for high-quality content.
Of course there are acceptances. But in general, many mobile games are riddled with microtransactions and are designed to make the player spend money rather than putting fun first. Hopefully this upcoming title can make enough money to justify getting regular content while also being a fun and enjoyable game to play no matter how much you spend.
Location is located in ancient China
The most exciting bit of information about this game is the fact that it will be set in ancient China in the year 215 BCE! This is a very unique location, as traditional Assassin’s Creed games have taken place in Europe, the Middle East and surrounding areas.
This, combined with the recent announcement of a Assassin’s Creed taking place in Japan should be really exciting for anyone who wants a Assassin’s Creed game set in the far east. Visiting China as an assassin should be a very refreshing change of pace from all the locations we’ve seen in the past.
Features Character creation
One of my personal favorite things about this new and upcoming title is that it features character creation! You can create and customize your own killer. This feature is brand new for the Assassin’s Creed franchise and one that should get fans really excited.
We know little about how deep this character customizer will be. We also don’t know if the player’s character will have a voice actor/actress or not, which could be good or bad depending on who you ask. Anyway, a character creator makes perfect sense given the game’s open-world RPG genre. Speaking of which…
Open World RPG
Finally, on this article for everything we know about Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade, we know it will be an open world RPG. Given that the game is coming to mobile devices, it’s unclear how “open” this game will be. Many mobile devices can’t handle large open areas, but based on the trailer we’ve seen for the game, it looks like we’ve got a hefty and detailed open world to explore.
However, it will definitely be an RPG. We have few details about the RPG mechanics in the game, but we can make some reasonable assumptions. We’ll almost certainly be able to improve our character, just like we could in previous Assassin’s Creed RPGs. We’ll also likely have a similar variety of activities that we can do (quests, dungeons, getting better gear, etc).
