Infusion is a process in Deathloop where you inject a weapon, plate, or trinket so you don’t lose it at the start of the next loop. Before unlocking this process, you have to manually locate and collect these items at the start of the day, which happens far too often with how easy it is to die in this game.

Each infusion costs a fixed amount of Residue, so you can’t infuse everything you think sounds helpful; this just eliminates the chance of holding Legendary weapons that cost more Residue than the standard weapons. You want to pay attention to these items to get the best start.

THEGAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

9/9 Shift Slab – Reliable Escape

The Shift plate is the first force you want to chase. It gets you to places much faster than usual and you can quickly escape by portaling yourself out of the firing line or going into hard-to-reach places like the roofs of buildings.

The plate can be taken from Charlie Montague in his hideout in Updaam or occasionally dropped by Julianna when she invades your game. Shift is literally a game changer. You can’t go back to normal play without it.

8/9 Rapier – Sure Fire Rifle

The rapier is a single-shot rifle, so you have to be sparing with your shots and keep your hand still. It’s a common drop so it’s not hard to get your hands on one, and it’s worth getting the first one you find, even if it’s not the best quality.

And then you can look for a stronger, exemplary quality rapier that comes with one of the extras that give the weapon built-in benefits. Long-distance encounters call for the rapier, so you should always have one with you.

7/9 Golden Harvest Trinket – All The Residue

What’s better than the infusion process is earning Residue so you can infuse things, and this is much faster once you get the golden harvest bauble. The trinket can be found in the Blue Laboratory Annex in The Complex and gives you the ability to harvest a larger amount of Residue than usual.

This is technically the first trinket you’ll want to keep as it takes away a lot of the difficulty, makes leveling much faster and ensures you get the most out of Residue, squeezing out every last drop.

6/9 Nexus plate – two for one

Before you can get the Nexus plate, you need to kill visionary Harriet Morse, who is located in the Karl’s Bay area. You can only catch her if you go there in the morning, because Harriet is not there at any other time of the day. At this point in the story, you know that Deathloop isn’t a game where you can shoot everyone and come out on top. You have to take it easy.

This is why Nexus is so important, because it gives you the power to connect enemies and damage all connected people just by shooting at them.

5/9 Fast Hands Trinket – At the speed of light

Fast hands allow for faster reloads on dual swings, so it’s only useful when using two weapons. However, the standard reload time is longer than with a single pistol. So it’s only useful in specific situations, but it’s worth it because you need the extra speed you wouldn’t otherwise get with dual-wielding.

One gun will do the job, but two will get the job done more efficiently, and you’ll look sweet doing it. The easiest way to find the quick-handed bauble is through random Eternalist drops.

4/9 All Legendary Weapons – Go for Gold

If you’re lucky enough to find a gold or unique weapon at the start of your playthrough, use it right away, especially if it’s a rifle or shotgun as these are always the ones you want to focus on. Finding unique weapons usually requires you to complete an extra step, such as playing a side mission or viewing a target. It’s a much more conscious process than tripping over it and stashing it in your inventory.

Gold weapons also give you extra space for trinkets that you can use to upgrade the power and reliability of your weapon of choice.

3/9 Juiced Up Trinket – A boost of energy

The energy bar is everything in Deathloop. It’s the decision whether you die before the end of the loop or survive the whole way, and having an extra bit of this will make sure you keep going – pressed gifts give you a little more energy that you can then use to your abilities.

If you want to Shift an extra time, you can use this trinket, or if you want to use Nexus for a while, juiced up allows this as well. Use it however you like, as long as you remember to pull the trinket for later use.

2/9 Streak 50-50 – Twin Barrels

The Strelak 50-50 is a double-barreled shotgun that can be found in a number of perks locations, but the one you’ll be looking for is the Strelak with the snare advantage. This can be looted from Charlie Montague after he kills him.

The only problem with inserting the shotgun is that you have to save up a lot of Residue before doing this; somewhere between 4,000 and 8,000, depending on the weapon’s rarity. Keeping the streak close at hand makes close encounters much smoother.

1/9 The Fourpounder – Ace In The Hole

The four-pounder is a revolver with magnum ammunition and can be used double. It’s relatively easy to find, but if you want a larger version of the weapon you can loot it from Harriet Morse in Karl’s Bay, and it comes with the Toxic Haze perk.

With Toxic Haze, your bullets release a cloud of poisonous gas, which gives you a big advantage because enemies are too busy to attack you normally. However, this gas can also affect you, so keep enough distance to get the most out of the four-pounder, but not so close that you are within the gas jet.
