Some of the most memorable parts of Kingdom Hearts games have to be the bosses. They show the player a strength test at the end of each world or when they have reached a certain amount of strength. Many players can remember some of their favorite in-game bosses because the design and battles are etched in their memory.

10/10 Oogie Boogie (Kingdom of Hearts)

Oogie Boogie isn’t one of the hardest bosses in the Kingdom Hearts games, but he has a unique way of beating. Oogie Boogie uses his mechanical roulette wheel of death to dish out most of his attack to players. The attacks he uses are often based on the roll of a die, which leaves it up to chance.

Figuring out how to navigate an area that the player is trying to kill, while also targeting Oogie Boogie, is already a challenge to keep players entertained. Mastering the area yields big rewards in terms of how engrossing the combat can be.

9/10 Ground Shaker (Kingdom Hearts 2)

The Groundshaker boss is one of the story bosses fought in Kingdom Hearts 2. This boss is a lot of fun to fight as it is one of the biggest in the game. The boss is also in The Pride Lands, so the fight is fought in Sora’s lion cub form which gives him high speeds and quick combos.

The boss consists of a monkey-looking Heartless riding a giant Heartless that has two sides to its face. The design is great, players will have to jump on the back of the giant Heartless to deal damage to and defeat the ape-like one.

8/10 The Experiment (Kingdom Hearts 2)

The Experiment is another boss that serves as part of the Kingdom Hearts 2 story. The boss isn’t the hardest in the world, but the way he looks is the perfect mix of creepy and cool. It’s a terrifying network of what looks like cartoonish decomposed parts of creatures and various robotic constructs.

Often the robot enemy will try to separate his body parts and if a player tries to damage the robot in this way often their attacks will end badly so the best way to take care of him is his body back along with an attack command and then deal damage .

7/10 World of Chaos (Kingdom of Hearts)

The battle with the boss of World of Chaos is huge as players have to fight against a giant heartless monster. The World of Chaos design is great because Ansem sticks out of the monster’s stomach. This is also one of the few battles that Sora can fly around in during its duration, as the boss is way too big to be defeated without doing so.

As Sora continues to fight this Heartless, it will take different forms with their specific challenges. Some shapes summon turrets that Sora must knock down, while another needs Sora to get into his stomach and destroy some parts in it.

6/10 Dark Inferno (Kingdom Hearts 3)

Dark Inferno in Kingdom Hearts 3 is an optional boss battle that can be fought on the Keyblade Graveyard. It is probably one of the sleekest looking Heartless in its design. It’s reminiscent of the first Heartless boss in the first Kingdom Hearts game, as it has a giant heart-shaped hole in his chest. Its horns, small wings, and hoof-like feet also give it a captivating demonic look.

The battle will put a lot of the player’s skills to the test as this Heartless is quite fast and performs quite a few attacks that should be dodged rather than blocked.

5/10 Kurt Zisa (Kingdom Hearts)

Kurt Zisa from Kingdom Hearts is named after someone who won a contest that allowed them to have their name as secret boss in the first Kingdom Hearts game. He has a beautiful boss-sounding name to match this six-armed sand robot snake creature.

He is hard to beat as he has three different forms with different attacks and players need to understand MP management to beat him. The Boss has many cool design features, such as a snake head with a diamond in its mouth that must be attacked to kill the boss. It is a great boss who unlocks a powerful attack with his defeat.

4/10 Spellican (Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance)

Spellican in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is fun to fight as the battle starts with the player crushing a giant rail of cosmic light. While on this rail, the player has to run towards the boss while dodging the various magic attacks that he throws at the player. Once the player manages to hit this boss, they are transported to another world where they have to fight Spellican.

This boss feels like it breaks space and time as it transports the player to a broken form of the universe after the player crushes into it. Both boss battle areas are some of the best that Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance has to offer.

3/10 Julius (Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance)

The Julius fight in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is one of the hardest fights in the game, but for one of the hardest fights the game offers, it’s not nearly as challenging as some of the others in the series. The Julius variant of Pete has a large attack radius and deals massive damage, especially as the battle progresses.

Combat feels like a big cat and mouse unless players understand how to quickly block and dodge his attacks. The Ultima Weapon Keyblade also unlocks as a reward for beating him, so he’s a boss worth fighting.

2/10 Yozora (Kingdom of Hearts 3)

Yozora is somewhat like Riku – something Kingdom Hearts does a lot – but he has his own way of fighting. He’s originally the video game character in the Toy Story world, but this is probably just a world he was stuck in as his cloaked story gives us a little insight into the character.

The combat is one of the hardest in the Kingdom Hearts series, but it’s also one of the most rewarding to complete, as the combat has a great feel for how to telegraph for well-timed retaliatory attacks. The intensity of his attacks and the power they produce increases and increases as the battle progresses. It’s a great time with lots of cinematic moments.

1/10 Master Eraqus (Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep)

For those who haven’t played Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep yet and want to, skip this section as there are some minor spoilers. The Master Eraqus Boss fight in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is a boss fight that is very heavy on the heart as players need a lot of story development to get to this point. The boss fight is challenging because after all, it’s the player’s Keyblade sensei.

Without saying who or why any of the characters confront Master Eraqus towards the end of their story and what they get is a heart-wrenching formidable battle. It’s the best for what it offers in the series, as all the masters who fought before were tainted by the darkness.
