Dialogue is a big part of many genres in gaming, being able to talk to characters and understand what they’re saying can be a big help in figuring out where to go. However, some titles deviate from the usual languages of real people to create their own language to improve the world construction of many titles.
Players can be tasked with deciphering these languages to help them in the future, while other games expect the players to just accept that they will never really understand what the characters they meet are saying. This doesn’t stop players from picking up the language.

The Al Bhed are a tribe of technologists in the Final Fantasy 10 universe, and unlike the other tribes players encounter, Al Bhed have their own unique language that players can learn. However, it is less of a language and more of a code as letters are replaced with other letters that players can decipher.
This is not only written in Japanese, but also in English so that more players can understand and decipher it. While it may be easy for the player to decipher in the game, it is suggested that it is a much more complex language as characters need books to decipher just one letter.
9 The Legend of Zelda – Hylian
As with Al Bhed, Hylian is rarely heard by the characters in The Legend of Zelda and can instead be found in various writings and monuments in the franchise. It’s another language that players have deciphered so they can better understand the lore as well.

8 Brothers: A Tale Of Two Sons – Language Inspiration
In this emotional adventure of two brothers, language is something that players are less likely to notice. Even if the player doesn’t understand what the brothers are saying, there’s plenty of powerful emotion between the two, as well as the brothers’ dramatic gestures that help tell this influential story.

4 Starcraft – Khalanic
An interesting language that sounds like meaningless sounds to the common ear, it is the telepathic communication that Khalai and Nerazim use in starcraft. There is also an even older version of Khalani that some speak Khalai. Other species would usually translate this as Latin. Players can learn more about this language in Starcraft 2 where players can see key phrases and common sayings used in their data module.
