Tennessee Football is back with its first game of the season against Ball State, and if you’re going to Neyland Stadium on Thursday, there’s one thing you’ll need: your phone.
Tennessee has gone completely paperless with digital tickets and parking tickets. Fans must download the QR code of their individual ticket to their smartphone and the ticket staff will scan it at the gate.
For those who have used services like Ticketmaster, StubHub, or other mobile ticketing options, the change could be an easy shift. But for anyone who is used to having that physical paper ticket, the new system may take some getting used to.
Here’s what you need to know about the new ticketing process before going to Neyland Stadium.
How do you buy Tennessee football tickets?
Tickets can be purchased at allvols.com or by calling the Tennessee Athletics ticket office at 865-656-1200 or 800-332-VOLS.
Where can I download the Tennessee Athletics app?
You can download the Tennessee Athletics app to your phone from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
Can I just print my ticket?
No. Unlike some venues that use mobile ticketing options, you cannot print your mobile ticket for entry to Neyland Stadium. According to Tennessee Athletics, PDF tickets to print at home are no longer issued or accepted for participation in Tennessee Athletics events.
When should I get the Tennessee Athletics app?
Download it now. Mobile service on match days can be spotty with so many fans in one place. The last thing you want is to miss kick-off because you’re sitting outside the stadium waiting for your ticket to be downloaded.
It is highly recommended that you download the Tennessee Athletics app (where you can access your tickets) before leaving your home to cheer on the Vols. You can download the app at any time and use the option to add the tickets to your phone’s mobile wallet at least 48 hours before the match.
Once you’ve added the tickets to your mobile wallet, you should be able to access them quickly, even if you have intermittent service or no internet at all. (You can even test this by putting your phone on airplane mode and opening your ticket.)
Can I take a screenshot of my ticket?
No. Tennessee Athletics uses Ticketmaster as a mobile ticketing service and the barcodes use special technology to secure them. As a result, screenshots of your ticket will not work.
If you’re used to taking a screenshot of your ticket to avoid the headaches of choppy service or WiFi, adding your tickets to your mobile wallet allows you to use them without mobile service.
Bought tickets for the group? You can either add all the tickets to your mobile wallet and enter the stadium together, or transfer the individual tickets directly to your friends.
Can I transfer my tickets via the app?
Yes! Do you meet people at the match, but do you have all the tickets? Skip the hassle of a meeting point outside the stadium and transfer the individual tickets to your friends’ phones. You can do this in the Tennessee Athletics app (which you already downloaded, right?).
Double check that the person you are transferring the ticket to is the correct person. You can only reclaim the tickets if they have not yet been accepted by the recipient.
Your friend must also download the Tennessee Athletics app and log into the All Vols account manager. If they bought any tickets previously via Ticketmaster, they can log in with that information. Otherwise, they have to sign up for an account. (They can use this account to buy tickets on Ticketmaster in the future.)
What if I have problems with my Tennessee football tickets?
Tennessee has put together step-by-step guides to manage, share, download and more your tickets. For the digital ticketing guide, visit utsports.com
Will other sports in Tennessee use digital tickets?
Yes. Digital ticketing is for all sporting events in Tennessee – not just football. You also want to keep the app downloaded for the basketball and baseball season.
