Odyssey OLED G8 delivers incredibly low 0.1ms response time for IFA 2022
CORPORATE NEWS: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. will unveil the Odyssey OLED G8 (model name: G85SB) – another great addition to the Odyssey range – at IFA 2022 in Berlin, Germany, further cementing the Odyssey’s leading position in the industry. The Odyssey OLED G8 is the company’s first OLED gaming monitor and will be available in an ultra-thin, 34-inch form factor, delivering brilliant brightness on an OLED panel in conjunction with Quantum Dot technology and packed with incredible gaming features, including an incredible low response time of 0.1 ms and refresh rate of 175 Hz.
The new 34-inch Odyssey OLED G8 is built to an ultra-thin 3.9mm thickness at its thinnest – the thinnest in its product category – and finished with a sleek metal frame. The monitor requires no backlighting while delivering true RGB and true black for maximum color accuracy and clarity – all without a color filter. The lighting is controlled in pixels that can be expressed in black.
The ultra-wide QHD resolution (3440 x 1440) gaming monitor features a 21:9 aspect ratio with 100% color volume and DCI-99.3% color gamut for incredible visuals no matter what game is being played. This is enhanced by a million-to-one static contrast ratio to bring out the most subtle details for better immersion and 1800R curvature for the perfect playing image.
The Odyssey OLED G8 is packed with gaming features to give every player a competitive advantage. First, the OLED monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black certified, making content look vibrant and lifelike with accurate color and contrast reproduction. In addition to the fast response time and refresh rate of the Odyssey OLED G8, which gives gamers super-fast response capabilities and realistic accuracy in a range of gaming environments, the monitor also includes the AMD FreeSync Premium for smooth gameplay.
The Odyssey OLED G8 also allows users to experience the best of gaming, entertainment and lifestyle in one place. The screen works as a complete entertainment hub with the ability to stream content via Samsung’s Smart Hub, providing access to the latest shows on Amazon Prime, Netflix, YouTube and other leading OTT service providers (over-the-top).[1], even without connecting to a PC or mobile device. In addition, users can enjoy free live content with no downloads or signups powered by Samsung TV Plus.
The integrated IoT hub allows users to monitor all IoT devices wirelessly connected to the monitor, while the SmartThings app allows users to easily monitor IoT devices throughout the home. The app’s intuitive control panel can help monitor and adjust settings such as temperature and humidity.
The Odyssey OLED G8 also provides users with comfort while playing their favorite games. A height-adjustable stand (HAS) and tilt function ensure efficiency, meaning every gamer can find an ideal position no matter what they’re playing, be it a racing game or an open-world fantasy adventure.
For further visual immersion, the display features the Odyssey portfolio’s renowned CoreSync & Core Lighting+, which has been upgraded for the Odyssey OLED G8. Located on the back of the monitor, this advanced lighting technology matches the colors on the screen, bringing content to life with bright and vibrant colors that create memorable, immersive experiences. In addition, the Odyssey OLED G8 is equipped with Micro HDMI (2.1), Mini DP (1.4) and USB-C ports for versatile connectivity, in addition to a 5W stereo speaker for clear sound.
The Odyssey OLED G8 will be available worldwide, with launch schedules varying by region. Availability in Australia is not yet known.
