In a partnership that perhaps not many saw coming, one of Britain’s top supercar manufacturers is launching on the PUBG battlefield today. That’s right, McLaren is making its mark on the world of PUBG, as part of Update 19.2 coming to consoles today – such an update has been available on PC since September 7.

To cover the McLaren side of things first, PUBG players can pick up exclusive McLaren GT vehicle skins, costume emotes and more from September 15 to November 10. Further cosmetics can be unlocked through the PUBG Workshop as players will receive tokens from McLaren Loot Caches and the Crafter Pass, which can be purchased separately in the storefront for your chosen platform. Finally, for those who own McLaren vehicle skins, a container containing a McLaren car is spawned at the start of each game, giving a lucky fighter a chance to improve his ride during the match.

So that’s just as much as supercars are working on Update 19.2 from PUBG, but the fun certainly doesn’t stop there. As with most other updates to the game, a ton of new features are coming to change the way you earn those coveted chicken dinners. First, the Heavy Stock makes an introduction, which acts as a new attachment that provides less recoil for your weapons, at the cost of a longer reload. As with most things related to attachments, there is a careful interplay between all the additions you make to your weapon.

Further changes have been made to the Deston map, which is the 9th map added to the game since launch. In addition to introducing a new vehicle – the not-so-friendly food truck – that seats four people and has large windows to shoot out, Deston will be equipped with a weather system, making minor changes to the weather during a match. While this is not a full day/night cycle, it just serves to add some realism to the procedure.

Speaking of realism, and the long-awaited animation refresh is coming as part of Update 19.2. It could always be argued that the animations in PUBG were usually on the clunky side, but with this update we can hope for smoother movements across the board.

In total, the main features are:

  • Drive in style with McLaren Automotive: During PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDSIn partnership with McLaren Automotive, players will be able to obtain a ‘McLaren GT Standard – Onyx Black’ vehicle skin, costume, gear, emote and more via in-game McLaren Loot Caches. Players can also equip the Coupe RB vehicle with McLaren skins and equip the special McLaren skins on the vehicle through the new vehicle interaction feature. Players can apply the skins by pressing the secondary interaction button for the vehicle. The skins do not affect the vehicle’s performance and the original specifications remain unchanged.
    • Vehicle workshop: Players can also create “McLaren GT Standard – Silica White” and “McLaren GT Elite – Volcano Yellow” vehicle skins in the Workshop by using the McLaren Tokens obtained from McLaren Loot Caches and the Crafter Pass: McLaren. McLaren Loot Caches and the Crafter Pass* will be sold in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS during the PC and console collaboration periods. In addition, exclusive customizable McLaren Automotive items will come with the collaboration, allowing players to create their own McLaren vehicles to suit their personal style. In the Workshop, players can craft exterior colors, brake calipers, wheels, and more to design their own vehicles using these items. The custom cars can also be displayed in the custom lobby.
    • McLaren container car: During the cooperation, a special container car will appear in each starting point of Erangel, Miramar, Taego, Sanhok, Vikendi and Deston. Players who own a McLaren vehicle skin can interact with these container cars and only the player and/or their teammates who open the container can drive and drive the vehicle. McLaren’s containers and vehicles will be removed once the race starts.
  • The not-so-friendly food truck around: A new vehicle has arrived in Deston, handing out some not-so-friendly treats to players exploring Deston. When you see the new Food Truck vehicle driving through Deston, you can expect a series of bullets flying out of the open window of the truck! The Food Truck can carry up to four passengers and has a large vertical open window on one side of the van and is only available in Deston.
  • New weather system: Players jumping into Deston will be able to experience the new time-of-day weather feature which will provide a more realistic lighting/weather condition over the course of a single match. The feature does not support a full day-to-night cycle and only displays a short progression cycle with no drastic change in the solar angle.
  • Refresh animation: The animation refresh update, originally described in a developer letter, will be live for Update 19.2! The aim of the update is to improve the player experience by improving and refining the game’s animation presentation, while preserving existing timing and strategy.
  • New Weapon Attachment, Heavy Stock: The Heavy Stock comes with update 19.2 and will provide less recoil at the cost of slower ADS timing. Check out the patch notes for a full list of weapons compatible with the Heavy Stock.

New attachments, animation improvements, map changes and supercars! Update 19.2 is hopefully one that PUBG fans will look back on with fond memories, so there’s no better time to go back to (or start your journey with) the free-to-play PUBG on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One.
