The 2022 NFL season has arrived and with it, a whole new set of stories can begin to take shape.

Following on from the Los Angeles Rams taking the Super Bowl on home soil, the new season presents an opportunity for the Southern California team to cement itself as a long-term fixture among the championship contenders rather than a one-off. The Rams face a tough test outside the gate, with the Buffalo Bills visiting the NFL season opener on Thursday night.

Elsewhere, Josh McDaniels is poised for his debut as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. The 46-year-old steps into his second NFL head coaching appearance, taking the reins in Vegas after the Raiders went 10-7 under Jon Gruden and Rich Bissacia. The pressure will be on McDaniels to make his team perform immediately in a competitive AFC West, and he will have his first shot at a win against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Russell Wilson will master his share of the spotlight as the Denver Broncos’ new starting quarterback, with the 33-year-old’s first glimpse of regular season action on Monday Night Football. The schedulers couldn’t have dreamed of a better opening game for Wilson and his new team, as the Broncos visit Lumen Field to take on the Seattle Seahawks in prime time.
