Over the years we have discovered that we have a number of various LucidSound headsets. But with each of them, despite all the positives, we’ve found something to let it down, never quite making LucidSound our favorite headset manufacturer; at least long term.

First thoughts on the LucidSound LS100X Are the same. While this is a good-looking, well-fitting, nice-sounding headset capable of multi-base coverage, a mid-range price, and removable mic (mics were something that held LucidSound back before), made us think the LS100X was a market broker; more than capable, but not quite there as a fully recommended unit. But it turns out that after a few weeks of use, we have absolutely no hesitation in recommending it. It looks good, sounds good and comes with a great battery. And surprisingly, it does more than you might initially think. It’s probably our favorite LucidSound headset.

This is a pretty well-rounded option from a company that knows what it takes to make a great looking headset.

The LS100X is no exception to the usual LucidSound rule; black and white in color, sleek in design and nicely weighted in the hand, this very much screams LucidSound. It is also quite light, weighing in at 265 grams.

It comes with the now standard LucidSound ear cups which are great for swiveling so you can turn up your master volume or adjust the loudness of games and party chats with ease. Easy to grab and almost unmissable, if you want to change the intensity of your audio those on the outside of the cups are up there with some of the best we’ve used. Admittedly, they are not particularly suitable for full fine-tuning, but you can easily cycle through a series of volumes with the left rotary knob.

That one on the right is about the mix of party and game chat and so if you find yourself struggling to hear your teammates in battle, a quick turn of that right button fixes things in a jiffy. Pressing the inner part also mutes your audio, so making sure the online world doesn’t hear your real-world antics is just as good.

With an adjustable headband slider and well-padded swivel memory foam ear cups, the LS100X feels great on the head too. We would probably like a little more cushioning under the headband itself, but overall it’s fine. Those cups also completely enclose your ears and seal them off from the outside world. Unfortunately, for a good fit, sound leakage is an issue and so if you’re using the LS100X around others you may need to turn the volume down a bit.

If you get into a game and find yourself with instructional duties, the microphone LucidSound has included here is a good one. Fully detachable – and whether that’s a good or bad thing depends on personal preference – it fits nicely in the left cup. It is also very flexible and just the right length to ensure you can place it nicely in front of your mouth. It also makes for decent mellow tones and while we’ve had teammates comment on a bit of muffled sound through our usual headset of choice – the stunning EPOS H6PRO if you’re wondering: multiple game sessions of varying lengths were taken without fuss.

In fact, the LS100X is one of the easiest wireless headphones we’ve had the pleasure of using to date and once you’ve plugged the USB dongle into your console of choice, the connection has always been solid and strong. It helped that LucidSound talks about how this headset is also one that lasts for around 130 hours (seventy plus when used in gaming mode), rarely requiring too much charge. If so, grab a USB-C cable and plug it in. Finished.

However, there is more and this comes with Bluetooth capabilities. Perfect for when you want to get away from the console scene and game with your mobile and those on the cloud Game Pass titles, holding down the left head button switches from the usual ‘gaming’ mode to that of Bluetooth.

Again, simplicity is key and once you pair it with a Bluetooth device you will find it does the job with pleasure time and time again. That convenience has made us use this headset for pretty much all of our audio needs for the past few weeks – be it gaming on console or phone, listening to music or making calls. Integrated microphones perfect for the latter.

We’re not sure there’s much wrong with the LucidSound LS100X wireless headset, but if we could, we’d increase the maximum volume slightly in game mode. We’re not sure if it’s one of those crappy EU/UK rules that limit this somewhat depending on location – just like the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro wireless – but we occasionally wanted a little more oomph from what this gives. Don’t get us wrong, the soundscape provided by the 50mm drivers themselves is great, punchy when it needs to be, crystal clear and detailed across the full range and complete with a few different equalizer modes – Signature, Bass Boost and FPS – but the hearing of the volume knob ‘ping’ reaching the highest level was disheartening.

Other than that, the LucidSound LS100X Wireless Gaming Headset for Xbox is one that should definitely be on your radar. With the usual neat LucidSound design, great sounding, with Bluetooth support out of the box and capable of multiple scenarios, it’s one of our favorite LucidSound headsets to date. It’s pretty well priced for a smidge under the ton too.

A big thank you to LucidSound for providing the LS100X for review. When you visit LucidSound directyou must be able to pick up a unit yourself.
