Introduction

The Logitech G715 is a TKL (80%) mechanical keyboard for both work and play, with round white and pastel graphics and a smaller footprint than a full-size deck.

The only thing missing here is the numeric keypad, with everything else present and accounted for. That means you have all the absolutely necessary keys for working and gaming on a shorter board. And just because this keyboard is “cute” doesn’t mean it isn’t fully suited to intense gaming, as the GX switches can attest.

Read on to find out if the Logitech G715 is among the best gaming keyboards on the market.

Design

  • Media keys and volume roller
  • Individual RGB mechanical switches
  • Robust chassis

Without a doubt, the dreamlike aesthetic of the Logitech G715 will be the first to stand out from the crowd of angular black boards we usually see in the gaming room. The TKL deck has a total of 87 keys, so you won’t feel cramped here, despite the compact form factor.

A nice addition to the visual design of the Logitech G715 is the included cloud wrist/palm rest, which sits under the keyboard for extra support. We’re used to seeing wrist rests in your standard black leather design, so this plush alternative makes itself known. It’s also one of the best wrist rests I’ve ever used.

The deck is quite light and weighs only 976 grams. As such, the Logitech G715 is ideal for those who want to work and play on the go, as you probably won’t feel heavy with this deck in your bag. The portable nature of this board is supported by the Lightspeed wireless functionality for use on PC, as well as Bluetooth to connect to other devices. You can also connect via the USB-C to USB-A adapter.

It’s not all roses, though. Since this keyboard costs $199.99 / £169.99, and the commercial is all about the customizable nature of the deck, additional keycap colors and top plates will cost you extra. For example, if you want to use pink Doubleshot PBT caps with the accompanying magnetic plate, that’s an extra $59.99 / £51.99 for a complete set. Things definitely get pricey if you want the full set.

Performance

  • Battery life is 25 hours with RGB enabled
  • Lightspeed Wireless, Bluetooth and Wired
  • Keycaps and top plates can be changed

In tests, I’ve mainly used the Logitech G715 wirelessly via the included Lightspeed USB dongle, but I’ve also used it and connected it over Bluetooth as well. I’m constantly impressed with how snappy this keyboard is; it’s ready to use as soon as my PC boots up, with no connectivity issues regardless of the input.

The Logitech G715 is marketed to offer broad appeal, so you’d be forgiven for thinking the GX mechanical switches here would lag behind those of the MX line – but you’d be wrong. The brand gives users a choice between linear, tactile or clicky in the US, with the latter option left out in the UK. Our review unit uses the former and does an admirable job with quiet, smooth operation. But in the end it comes down to personal preference. It’s a shame that not all three options are available in all areas.

Working on the Logitech G715 was one of the most enjoyable experiences compared to some of the other gaming keyboards I’ve used this year, and I certainly appreciate the extra space provided by the 80% form factor. Personally, I didn’t notice the lack of a numeric keypad, despite using a full-sized deck.

The linear switches allowed me to hit my usual standards of around 63 wpm in some of the more challenging typing tests, even hitting a new record of 67 in the two-minute benchmark. Are you looking for a model for study or work, then you’ve come to the right place; I even typed this review on it.

Playing games on the Logitech G715 is an above average experience. While this model may not look like it to the hardcore gamer, its performance in demanding titles cannot be underestimated. Unlike some smaller units, like the Corsair K70 Pro Mini Wireless, it didn’t take much adjustment time when setting up headsets in long Valorant sessions or raiding villages in Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.

I also noticed an increase in accuracy during a few All Out War rounds in the final days of Battlefield 2042’s Zero Hour campaign. Make no mistake, this cute keyboard can certainly hold its own in twitch-based titles, too.

Software and lighting

  • Logitech Lightsync RGB
  • Base cabinet 16 LED perimeter lighting

The RGB lighting on the Logitech G715 is powered by the brand’s Lightsync technology with 16.8 million programmable colors and individual LEDs under each keycap.

However, what is most unique about the lighting here is the 16 LED perimeter lights on the underside of the board itself. When you stand it upright with its two legs, you’ll notice a warm glow emanating from the sides of the keyboard, as well as the keys themselves. Combined with the cloud rest, this feature really adds to the ethereal nature of the surf.

There’s also the Logitech G Hub software, which allows you to further customize the keyboard’s performance. It also offers more personalization options with the RGB lighting itself.

The software allows you to save your profile with the built-in memory module, so you don’t have to adjust the RGB more than once to your needs. You also have a choice between Mono lighting colors and more vibrant options, if pastel isn’t doing it for you.

Should you buy it?

You are looking for something different from your typical TKL gaming keyboard

The Logitech G715 certainly goes its own way compared to other decks that offer similar performance and have an unconventional aesthetic design.

You don’t think the premium price for the looks is worth it

There’s no getting around it – you’re paying a decent wedge here for the RGB lighting, white color scheme and wireless functionality. If that’s a steep barrier to entry for you, you may be better served by cheaper alternatives.

Final Thoughts

The Logitech G715 largely succeeds in its mission to appeal to a wider audience of gamers with its unique take on mechanical gaming keyboards. As for TKL (80%) boards, there are definitely worse models for your money, but the listed asking price is significantly high compared to alternatives.

Simply put, the Logitech G715 is far from the first white TKL gaming keyboard on the market, even when compared to other similarly priced models from the brand itself, such as the Logitech G915 TKL. Still, there’s no other small form factor deck quite like this, so if the atmosphere is anything that appeals, you should be well served.

How do we test?

We use every keyboard we test for at least a week. During that time we will check and test the ease of use by playing different genres including FPS, strategy and MOBAs.

We also check each keyboard’s software to see how easy it is to customize and set it up.

I’ve used the Logitech G715 as my main gaming keyboard for both work and play

Tested with various games, such as Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, Battlefield 2042, Valorant and Doom Eternal

Frequently Asked Questions

Are TKL keyboards worth it?

TKL keyboards (Tenkeyless or 80%) are smaller than your standard full-size board, meaning more desk space without sacrificing essential macro or function keys, as with smaller sizes.

What could be better than 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth?

The former connects via a USB dongle and the latter is built into devices such as your phone, gaming PC, tablet and laptop. In terms of speed and connection, the dongle could be more consistent.
