Blockman Go was a game that got quite popular over the years and was kind of a mix of Minecraft‘s server-based games and Roblox. utilities, Garena, the popular game developer and publisher, has taken over the game’s operations in certain regions and rebranded the game as Garena Blockman Go. Still the same game but under new management and hopefully we’ll see the game moving in a more positive direction. Here in this article we will review Garena Blockman GO and share our first impressions of the game.
Create and play your own games similar to a Roblox-like platform
starting with the reviewGarena Blockman GO looks like it took some really serious inspiration from Roblox (to the point where yes, it can be considered a copy). Everything from the menus to the blocky designs of the game itself are all very similar to Roblox.
That doesn’t mean it isn’t a good game and was quite fun. Bed Warsa lot of different shooters, Prison Break, and many others turned out to be fun experiences. Not games that you would play for too long if you are a serious gamer because who would choose a game with outdated graphics instead of something like Apex Legends Mobile.
Now it is important to understand that Garena Blockman Go itself is not a game. It is a platform where users can create, upload and run their own games. These games can be anything based and rely heavily on the multiplayer elements as players come together and role-play in cities and different situations, grab their weapons and play a blocky take on Battlefield or participate in other competitive events. There are many games with a really active community, so there are no quiet moments in any of the big games.
Blockman Go has a wide catalog of games from all popular genres
Garena Blockman Go has no specific advantages over Roblox, which is a more refined experience so to speak with larger player bases. One thing to note is that this game runs a little better on lower spec devices, which is something Roblox may not do very well, so if you’re using a low to medium size device then you might want to consider Blockman Go.
The game really has everything from FPSis to role play to parkour, so there’s no shortage of content for players to enjoy and a lot of the gameplay really comes down to what the developers put on the platform. These games are not the most sophisticated or engaging and you will probably have a better time playing Call of Duty mobile then say, frontline but that’s not the appeal of this game, so it’s not a very solid criticism.
Graphics certainly isn’t the game’s strongest suit, but it offers smooth controls and user interface
Now the graphics differ from game to game, but if you’re not someone who takes the graphics seriously then most games are fine. They’re not nearly perfect or realistic, but then again, if you’re playing this game, you’re probably not looking for top-notch graphics or audio. It’s a little janky in both aspects, but it works for this game.
The controls and user interface are both quite good. They work satisfactorily and the user interface is actually quite well designed and works well, although it is very similar to Roblox’s user interface. Again, this game is a clone of Roblox in every way, so that’s not unexpected. Plus, we didn’t encounter too many bugs or glitches during our testing period.
No ads, but IAPs do exist in the sandbox world of Blockman Go
The game doesn’t really have a lot of ads, but there are in-app purchases. Now for a while there were issues with the original Blockman Go game where monetization got a bit predatory, and with Garena dealing with it there could be some changes. As of now, the currencies are a bit scattered.
Final verdict
Games like Roblox and Garena Blockman Go clearly don’t advertise the best gameplay. It’s more along the lines of mini-games that are far from perfect in terms of the gameplay or the visual quality, but do have the social elements and some slightly below par experiences.
Now, Roblox is still the obvious choice when it comes to minigame platforms. As mentioned, those with under-performance devices can definitely try Blockman Go and it’s always good to have alternatives nearby.
Blockman Go has some monetization issues, but a more experienced developer like Garena may allow for certain improvements in the future. It has some really nice experiences with certain caveats.
