Although it may have felt like a bit funny‘s Blessing Adeoye Jr. spoke at 1.75x speed about upcoming games and world premieres, Disney and Marvel’s D23 Streaming Event managed to show a few games that weren’t just movie trailers. Here’s everything we saw at Disney and Marvel’s D23 Expo Showcase, ranked in order of play or not.
Marvel’s Midnight Sun
Hey it looks like Marvel’s Midnight Sun have a new new release date. Since it was originally slated to release in March before being delayed (twice), it’s nice to see it coming December 2nd for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. We also got our eye on a nice animated short featuring the likes of Blade and Wolverine tearing up fools. Now I hear this game has some sort of major romance mechanism, in addition to Marvel’s answer to XCOM by becoming XCOMso I will follow the career of this game with great interest.

Humble Bundle 2K Megahits Game Bundle for Covenant House
Provide housing and support services to young people who are homeless
A range of 2K games are bundled together. You can pay whatever you want to support the cause, but if you want access to some of the big hits like Borderlands 3, The Bioshock Collection, XCOM: The Ultimate Collection, and Sid Meier’s Civilizatrion VI, you’ll have to pay at least $16 Anyway, that’s hardly a thing compared to the $663 value you get from all 18 games combined.
Avatar: Borders of Pandora
I hope you’re not tired of hearing about it Avatar (the blue people) in 2022, because Avatar: Borders of Pandora showed a new trailer showing how to make your own Na’vi and participate in a Duty-like deathmatch with your ponytail comrades.
Avatar: Bill
While Avatar: Bill is not necessarily a new game, we did get to see some new gameplay during D23 Expo. The D23 trailer described the game as an action-packed MMORPG shooter that you can play in the palm of your hand hand, so if you’re in the market for that, this game might be for you.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Galactic Edition
More Star Wars characters are coming to a Lego game near you as TT Games announced it is adding 30 new playable characters to Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga in its new Galactic Edition. The Galactic Edition includes six character packs (which will get you $6 a pop). These include: Cassian Andor, reva , Captain Rex and more familiar faces. The Galactic Edition comes out November 1 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
Marvel Snap
If you would like your own hearthstone with Marvel characters in mind, Awkwafina’s unmistakable voice just answered your prayer announcing Marvel Snapa strategy game for mobile.
Illusion Island
Fans of The wonderful world of Mickey Mouse cartoons that wanted a platformer with Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Minnie get just that. The game looks very nice, especially with the possibility to play together with your friends.
Return to Monkey Island
Monkey IslandThe latest trailer was accompanied by the voice (and face) of Dominic Armato, the voice behind Guybrush Threepwood. The trailer praises LucasArts’ classic adventure series with a new art style, music score, and a Nathan Drake-esque journal to document your time on the high seas and reminisce about adventures in past games. Monkey Island releases on September 19 for PC and Nintendo Switch.
Disney Dreamlight Valley
Dreamlight Valley, Disney’s (extremely good) take on Animal Crossinggets an expansion with the toys of Toy Story. I have to admit that climbing into Andy’s room with Buzz and Woody sounds pretty fun, but I was distracted by Mr. Lightyear flirting with Ursula in the trailer. Jessie won’t like that one, spaceman. You bag out.
Disney Speedstorm
Okay, I know gaming is overrun with franchises who don’t know what to do with their IP and settle for making a kart racer, but Disney Speedstorm looks a bit hype. Mickey Mouse Tokyo floats around Sully van Monsters Inc. probably ticks off someone’s bucket list. If you wanted a release date, it didn’t have one, but there was one website where you can sign up for updates and wishlist the game on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Disney Mirrorverse
Disney took the phrase “sometimes it’s good to be bad” with its new trailer for mirror verse, its mobile RPG. The trailer features fan-favorite villains such as Ursula (hello again), Hades, Oogie Boogie and Scar battling hordes of monsters.
Marvel Strike Force
Marvel Strike Forcea 2018 turn-based RPG for mobile, got a brand new trailer showing all Hulks, red or otherwise, stomping into a mud puddle horror. Rest in pieces, my man.
New Black Panther / Captain America game
What’s better than one Captain America or a Black Panther game? A game in which the two of them are exterminate Nazis during World War II. To make it even more fun, the game is being worked on by not mapped serial writer Amy Hennig. While the trailer skimped on the gameplay for Easter egg references, the concept behind the game is certainly promising. It also answered the nagging question in the back of my mind as to whether Caps was politically “of the times” with America’s sentiments toward my motley crew. respect.
Aliens: Dark Descent
If you are one of the people who forgot that Disney technically owns the Alien franchise, hi, hello, it does, and it’s working on a new game called Aliens: Dark Descent. It is a squad based RTS strategy action game in the Alien universe, and it looks like you’re leading your squadron of marines through narrow corridors of abandoned starships while blowing up xenomorphs.
Marvel World of Heroes
Looks like Marvel saw what Niantic was up to pokemon go and said Marvel fans should take a break from Twitter and get out there too. How so. Marvel World of Heroes is a mobile AR game where you can take a break from touching grass to see Dr. take out strangers support ring and patrol your neighborhood for scum and rogue. Be careful not to get arrested. Gamers have a bad rap as it is.
Tron: Identity
I admit I was born in ’96 so I had no idea what this was until Kotaku‘s Zack Zwiezen chimed in during the opening seconds of this trailer by typing “TRON” into our Slack channel. So yeah, looks like we’re getting a new one Tron game inside Tron: Identity. Apparently it’s a visual novel. It has a nice font.
And that’s all they showed during this rather small 23 minute showcase. Did you notice anything special?
