Players will argue about it until the end of the Azerotic times, but there are changes in the game in later expansions that were popular. The addition of Achievements in World of Warcraft: Classic’s Wrath of the Lich King expansion is an example of this. They are smart, fun and personally rewarding, and everyone likes them.
Some achievements are impossible to get because they rely on features from an earlier version of the game that no longer exists, and many others are so strange and strangely specific that the player doesn’t discover them until they reach them. There are plenty that fall somewhere in between: weird and obscure, but not so difficult that new or returning players should be discouraged from trying them.
6 Make love, not Warcraft
It’s hard to believe now, considering how iconic this is South Park episode, but creator Matt Stone hated it so much that he asked the network executives not to air it. The title was “Make Love, Not Warcraft” and today there is an achievement named after this moment when an RPG jumped out of the Nerd Bubble and entered the mainstream.
This feat is inspired by the PvP subplot that makes up most of the episode, which ends in an epic open-world skirmish along with Stan hugging his father after his character is mortally wounded. It requires a player to use the emote feature to “hug/hug” an enemy’s corpse. One tip for completing this feat is to create a macro with the emote and use a keyboard shortcut to complete it after winning a duel or seeing someone fall on a battlefield.
5 What a long strange journey it has been
Not only is this one of the most difficult feats, it is also one of the most unique, and there are several other equally creative feats that the player must complete to reach this point. These can all be found under the World Events tab, which only happens once a year, making it even harder to finish.
All first achievements are linked to the original eight world events that the Azeroths have celebrated since the beginning of Classic WoW. The reward for this is one of the game’s rarest mounts, the violet Proto-Drake, a highly prized item.
4 The Fisheries Diplomat
At first glance, this feat doesn’t seem like anything out of the ordinary. After all, the character can fish everything out and that still counts, but the trick is that they have to fish one thing in each city. There are two factions in World of Warcraft: Classic, and no matter which class the player chooses, one of these cities will be an enemy one.
It works that half of these will be so easy that it’s a giveaway, but the other will infiltrate a hostile city and be much more difficult. Most players achieve this feat during a raid or when city guards are distracted by special events. For those interested in other fishing feats, there are also two elusive fish that lurk in the waters of both Orgrimmar and Stormwind, Old Ironjow and Old Crafty.
3 Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
The video featuring Leeroy Jenkins’ heroic swipe elicited a lot of laughter from everyone who looked to the internet, whether they knew what “MMORPG” stood for or not. Unsurprisingly, this feat consists of killing as many rookies as possible in as little time as possible, specifically 50 having to die in 15 seconds or less, in Upper Blackrock Spire.
There is an updated version in the store Wow in which Leeroy is a character, which is also completed in Upper Blackrock Spire, one of Old Azerothian’s more difficult infamous dungeons. It is designed for 10 players and aims to prepare them for bigger endgame raids, such as Molten Core, which is located just a few floors down in the same mountain.
2 The cake is not a lie
World of Warcraft wasn’t the only video game juggernaut to take over the gaming world 15 years ago. 2007 was also the year of Portal, and it was a very different game from Warcraft, but had just as dedicated a following. This is where the phrase “the pie is a lie” was born, because although the players in Portal were promised a sweet reward for completing the game, there was none. The pie in Portal was a lie, but in the feat that uses its name in World of Warcraftthe cake is real.
Players have to make a delicious chocolate cake. That sounds easy, but it’s much harder than it looks. Some ingredients are hard to find, such as the small eggs and bottles of Stormwind Tawny, and only an herbalist can pick Mageroyal, so players often have to buy or trade for it. However, the really difficult part is finding the recipe for Delicious Chocolate Cake. It’s a rare reward that players can get by completing the daily cooking missions or the Small Spice bag that lower level players get from basic shopkeeper delivery or pick-up quests.
1 It’s happy hour somewhere
This feat is a bigger challenge to complete before the Wrath of the Lich King expansion drops and Northrend’s potions become available. Even then, Northrend is a zone for higher level players, so lowbies can still have fun looking for 25 drinks in Old Azeroth.
Despite the suggestion in the title, it’s not just alcoholic drinks that count towards this achievement, so players can get creative and finish it off without waiting for certain holidays like Brewfest. There’s a top-secret tavern at the entrance to the Caverns of Time that sells a few rare vintages, and Mages, who can conjure different types of water, can complete this unusual feat with less effort than other classes.
