Nefertari Vivi is the princess of Alabasta. Formerly known as Miss Wednesday, along with her trusty duck Karoo, she has been an honorary member of Luffy’s crew since joining them on the Merry Go during the Alabasta Saga of A piece.
Vivi is a devoted young woman who is always willing to do whatever it takes to protect her homeland. She also cares deeply about all straw hats, especially Nami. Like any other member of the crew, her attire hides some of the most intriguing facts about her character.
8 Her debut outfit
Vivi’s very first performance was in A piece chapter 103 of the manga, which corresponds to episode 62 in the anime. Interestingly, she started out as an enemy of the crew, under the name Miss Wednesday, with her acolyte Mister 9, both working under Baroque Works for Sir Crocodile.
As an outfit for her debut, she wore a light green jacket, complemented by a pair of white shorts and boots. As a compliment, Vivi wore a black and purple striped top. She also wore a belt that could also be used as a weapon, as seen during the Whiskey Peak arc and later in the Alabasta Saga.
7 Controversy
The outfit fans associated with Vivi during her time as Miss Wednesday was actually very different in the manga compared to the anime. Indeed, in her debut in the A piece chapter 103 in the Whiskey Peak arc, there is a noticeable difference in her outfit compared to the anime.
Instead of the striped top that anime viewers saw her wearing, Vivi wore one with a spiral pattern on the chest. This change was made because the outfit was considered controversial and supposedly too risqué, as it sexualized her figure. A piece often comes under fire for his sexualized designs, so this was a curious choice of the anime.
6 Peacock and String Slashers
As with any outfit, accessories are essential to make the character stand out, and in Vivi’s case, it’s her Peacock Slasher or Kujjaki Slasher. This weapon is made of small jewelry in the form of peacock feathers, attached to a wire.
The superior version of this weapon is what Vivi calls the Peacock String Slasher and she has been known to wear it like a belt around her waist. To make use of these weapons, she wraps the wire around her little finger and spins it around incredibly fast, creating a disk.
5 Hair colour
Vivi’s main color has never been confirmed by Eiichiro Oda, the author of A piece. However, from her many outfits and designs, it can be assumed that her color is most likely white, blue or pink.
These seem to be her most recurring colors in her wardrobe, and they are very apparent, especially in her pre-time skip Princess of Alabasta outfit she wore at the end of the Alabasta arc. When she waved goodbye to Straw Hat’s pirate crew with the iconic X on her left arm, she was dressed in white.
4 Her outfit after Timeskip
After skipping time, Vivi seems to have really embraced her role as Princess of Alabasta and now dresses according to her status. Her new outfit was first seen in episode 777 of the anime called “Reverie e – Oujou Vivi to Shirahoshi-hime de”, where she set off on a boat leaving Alabasta to go to the Reverie. Along with her were some other rulers such as Shirahoshi, princess of Fishman Island, Vivi was accompanied by her father, King Cobra, and her faithful pet Karoo. She was standing in the crow’s nest, wearing a long pink dress. In addition, on her shoulders she wore a flowing red cape. Vivi also changed her hairstyle quite a bit and was seen wearing some new gold accessories.
3 karoo
Vivi’s loyal pet and mount has always been an important part of her character. Karoo is a duck – to be more specific, a superspot-billed duck considered to be one of the fastest and most reliable modes of transport in Alabasta. Like Vivi, he had infiltrated Baroque Works with Igaram in hopes of freeing Alabasta from Sir Crocodile’s clutches. His normal equipment consists of a saddle for Vivi or another person who mounts him when he needs his services. Furthermore, he also wears a blue helmet with some white and pink highlights. Karoo is almost always seen with a water pumpkin because he needs to stay hydrated.
2 Princess
Nefertari Vivi is not only an honorary member of Luffy’s Straw Hat Pirates, but also the princess of the Alabasta Kingdom. During her debut, she rarely wore anything that indicated her high rank as royalty. She was usually seen wearing shirts paired with pants or shorts. However, as the story progressed and fans got closer to the end of the Alabasta Saga, her wardrobe changed quite a bit.
This was because she had liberated the country and was finally able to dress the way she wanted. Before the time jump, she wore a white dress with gold accessories and a pink scarf around her shoulders. After the timeskip, she wore a pink dress and a red cape, but her overall style hasn’t changed much.
1 belly dancer
During the Alabasta arc, Vivi and Nami are given some clothes to wear by Sanji. As expected from his usual perverted nature, he ends up getting a belly dancer outfit for them.
Both Vivi and Nami wore these clothes for a long time until the last part of the arc started. Vivi, in particular, was seen wearing a purple and pink bra top and a long, flowing, light blue skirt, with a pattern that resembled her top. In addition, she wore a long white veil over her shoulders.
