VR is one of the best ways to experience games, especially for those who like interactive gameplay. For many horror fans, VR was a way to experience the hair-raising terror of many horror games in a much more interactive way. VR lets players see through the eyes of the protagonist in the game, which can be mesmerizing and fun for games like No Man’s Sky but the catalyst of real fear when it comes to horror games for VR.

The valve index is one of the newer VR consoles, which will be released in June 2019. Since its release, many horror games have become compatible with the console, such as Five nights at Freddy’s: help wanted and Duck season.

6 The Brookhaven Experiment

The Brookhaven Experiment is an action/horror survival game for VR that has received overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam for its graphics, decent story, and little to no bugs. The game takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting, with hostile, grotesque creatures emerging from a hole in reality created by a failed experiment.

The player must survive long enough to fight against these creatures and live to see the day when they can get to the source of the monstrous zombies and close the hole for good. The creatures come in increasingly terrifying waves and it’s up to the player to use their environment and weapons to fight them all.

5 Dreadhalls

Dreadhalls prides itself on being a “new kind of immersive horror”, telling players that they will truly believe they are in a dark, damp dungeon with horrifying surprises lurking around every corner. As the description implies, the game takes place in a maze-like dungeon that is randomly generated every time the player spawns, making every experience different and really capturing the fear of the unknown.

As with many survival horror games, the only weapons the player gets is their stealth, which leaves them with no weapons to fight back against the monsters lurking in the dungeon. The object of the game is to find the exit to the dungeon in the wandering halls, but only the bravest players will be able to get there.

4 Five nights at Freddy’s: help wanted

After the release of Five nights at Freddy’s: ultimate custom night came the first VR FNaF game, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted. For a casual player, the game is a well-crafted and witty VR game that condenses some of the memorable elements of the six core games into their own four-level mini-games.

But like many fans of FNaFknow, not everything is what stands out. The game is littered with secrets and extra bits of knowledge that fans can seek out by using the mobility and freedom they get with a VR headset. There are even additional, slightly more challenging, levels to the main minigames that players can complete after beating all four.

Calling all VR fans who enjoy zombie outbreak/apocalypse games because oh boy, we found the game for you. VR Contagion: Outbreak is purpose-built for VR, meaning the range of motion and mechanics are both lifelike and fluid with the motion controls for VR.

The game throws you into an immersive world where a zombie outbreak begins to wreak havoc on life as we know it. In each of the four main missions, players control a different character, protect their loved ones, get involved in their lives and watch the story of the zombie outbreak unfold from different perspectives in the game’s world.

While many VR horror games are often survival horror or in-your-face jump scares meant to make the VR headset wearer’s heart jump down their throats, not many focus on the golden opportunity for psychological horror in VR. That being said, A chair in a room: Greenwater does this beautifully, creating an immersive and truly terrifying experience for anyone who dares to play it.

The game is set in America’s Deep South, with players taking on the role of Patient No. 6079, a new resident of The Greenwater Institute who cannot remember who they are or what they did to be admitted to the ward. . However, terrifying visions that tie the story together begin to terrorize the main character, with only the medication the doctor’s supply can fend them off.

1 Exorcist Legion VR

Hailed as one of the most disturbing experiences for the VR platform, Exorcist Legion VR is definitely a must-play for all players looking for a horror experience that will stay with them long after they take off the headset.

The game weaves together five stories that the player faces and encounters a variety of hair-raising demonic entities, hidden artifacts, and exorcism tools. Exorcist Legion VR is a masterfully woven puzzle, action and mystery game set in various atmospheric environments that allow the player to be truly immersed in each of the five stories they will experience.
