This time of year there is always an abundance of excellent titles to get excited about. Franchises like FIFA and NBA 2K always release a blast every year for fans to put on their mitts.
And every year there is always a diamond in the rough.
New titles that make headlines and impress players, eventually spawning sequels and leaving a mark on gaming culture for better or for worse.
Dot Esports will keep you updated on all the games coming in the coming months, but first we need to let you know when they’re out.
Here’s a list of the top ten games coming out in September:
10. grounded
(Issue 27 Sept.)
So far 10 million players have tested grounded since early access started two years ago. The title will be released in full this month and promises to give fans every conceivable spider jump, leaves and water droplets. This multiplayer experience has been impressing fans for quite some time, with promises to expand and implement new features along the way, this title is easily on Dot’s radar.
grounded 1.0 will be available on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, and PC.
9. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R
(September 2 issue)
Based on the beloved TV series, this remastered fighting game developed by CyberConnect2 follows the incredible art style of the Shonen Jump series. The game features characters from JoJo’s universe and showcases enhanced fighting mechanics and revived gameplay.
Combos will be an integral part of remaster. A lot of thought has gone into setting up combo chains and setting traps for opponents.
This title will be released on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
8. Return to Monkey Island
(September 19 issue)
Return to Monkey Island is an upcoming point-and-click adventure game with an interesting art design and follows the previous Monkey Island titles chronologically, but this is not a sequel. Developed by Terrible Toybox, this story-based game offers players puzzles and is heavily focused on coming up with the perfect story for the players.
Return to Monkey Island will be available on Nintendo Switch and PC.
7. Steel Rising
(September 8 issue)
After the brutal suppression of the French Revolution, players will be pushed into Paris at the end of the 18th century to save history by confronting the King’s Army. Spiders Studio’s latest title plays similarly to the notoriously difficult Dark Souls series, with the story being an alternate timeline in history. What’s not to love?
Steel Rising will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
6. Metal: Hellsinger
(Edition 15 Sept)
Metal: Hellsinger seems to be taking over DOOMs title of best soundtrack ever in this new release. Narrated Troy Baker, Hellsinger puts players in dangerous situations with powerful enemies. Users must fight through hell to escape, using mind-altering weapons, all to the tune of soothing heavy metal music.
Metal: Hellsinger will be released on Xbox X|S, PC and PlayStation 5.
5. FIFA 23
(Issue 30 Sept)
The latest episode of the FIFA franchise is back and aims to improve on several elements of its predecessors. This will be the last FIFA under the EA banner. There is now some competition from the football title eFootballand the coming UFL title, so EA’s FIFA should show fans what to remind them of how integral this franchise was.
FIFA 23 will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC
4. The last of us part 1
(September 2 issue)
The wonderful experience that the original was The last of us game rocked the gaming industry with a memorable story and stunning visuals. Join Joel and Ellie again for the last of us part 1 recreated for the PlayStation 5 and PC and experience it all over again.
The images look lifelike and honestly I’m not ready to cry like that again.
The last of us part 1 will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC.
3. Splatoon 3
(September 9 issue)
Inklings and Octolings come together as Nintendo’s third installment splatoon franchise enters and is ready to make its mark. The latest game in the series promises to feature new customizations, game modes, and characters for players to enjoy. Splatoon 3 already got off to a strong start with the Splatoon Demo release earlier last month, giving users a taste of the ink madness that will follow in the full release.
Splatoon 3 will be available on Nintendo Switch.
2. Biomutant
(September 6 issue)
Players need to get a little taste of the Biomutant gameplay earlier this year with trials on consoles such as PlayStation Plus. The samurai-style gameplay surprised fans and provided them with humorous narration and tough combat. This game makes the leap to next-generation consoles, with cool combos and intense battles with improved graphics.
This title will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
1. NBA 2K23
(September 9 issue)
Recreate infamous games from NBA history, play as Michael Jordan and dunk on all your friends. This year’s title is an improvement over the last game in almost every way. The gameplay looks phenomenal, with improved graphics and new and improved finishers, this game seems to want to blow its predecessors out of the water.
