All games should strive to place the player in a lived-in world that feels new to the player, yet familiar to those who live in it.
Many sci-fi games have brilliant world construction, and the moment players begin their adventure in that game, they become completely immersed in the world, its features, and the characters involved. There is a great level of detail that deserves appreciation for these types of games.

Mass effect lets the player enter a galaxy inhabited by sentient alien life, all with their recognizable characteristics and culture. As Commander Shepard, the player chooses his identity and strength and embarks on a mission with his elite scout team.
What makes building the world so great at? Mass effect is not just the fact that the developers have built an inhabited world for players to jump into, but the fact that they can help build the world themselves. The game relies on the choices each Commander Shepard makes, creating a different world with different outcomes.
6 Destiny
From the team behind the original HaloBungie reinvented the sci-fi genre with an online first-person multiplayer shooter known as Destiny. The build-up and anticipation of Destiny was full of mystery and longing about this beautiful but dangerous new frontier of light versus dark. A world also explored further in in-game readable lore.
Destiny has continued to evolve with Lot 2 and further extensions. With no clear end in sight, Destiny is very welcoming to new players who will find themselves as Guardians. being a veteran of Destiny is its own reward, as players feel they have saved the world countless times and will lead new Guardians to greater fortune and courage.

Hello Night City. As a multicultural metropolis, Night City is buzzing with life, but not all of it good. The central location of Cyberpunk 2077 spreads in this dystopian cyberpunk world. audience of cyberpunk are already familiar with the locations and characters in the table-top RPG, but CD Projekt RED brought much of the lore to life with Cyberpunk 2077.
The world of Cyberpunk 2077 is captivating, and Night City’s dashing corporate invasion, corruption, organized crime and gang activity makes it so vibrant. Players will feel V’s desires as they try to become a Night City Legend like the ranks of Johnny Silverhand.
4 Death Stranding
After a series of supernatural events plague humanity’s near future, Death Stranding offers the public a future where humanity is afraid to connect. With a mass extinction imminent, only Sam Porter Bridges can save the day by reconnecting humanity by traversing the ravaged wasteland of a prosperous American nation.
When players begin their journey through Death Stranding, they can get confused as everyone seems to be adjusting to the new world. It’s great to see a world build where everyone seems to be transitioning into the new era.
3 BioShock
After a horrific plane crash over the ocean, the protagonist is left stranded overnight until the underwater city of Rapture reveals itself. BioShock has a lot of horror elements in the insane and murderous enemies, but even the innocence of the Little Sisters can be terrifying.
BioShock houses many elements that contribute to a sci-fi intrigue. The game is great for world building as Rapture has its own culture, ripe with its own laws and a wild society. There are many questions players may have about Rapture, including the Big Daddies, but the game will answer them if the player pays attention and explores.
2 Horizon: Zero Dawn
A vibrant world is present in Horizon: Zero Dawn. It is an era when Earth is no longer ruled by humanity, but by machines that dominate the post-apocalyptic landscape. As players embark on their journey as Aloy, they must discover what it means to be a shunned outcast and find the purpose of their existence.
The game is rich in knowledge and the player will step into the shoes of Aloy to find all the answers, both the player and the protagonist try to solve the mystery of a forgotten civilization that came before.
1 Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
It might be considered cheating to add a game that built the world 45 years ago, but Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order takes the Star Wars universe to some interesting places while the player gains the power of the Force. There is a lot to unpack in this Star Wars game, where the story is on the heels of Order 66.
