Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is an RPG life simulator game where players take on the role of a farmer, growing their crops throughout the season while getting to know the town’s fellow residents. Although spring, summer and fall are known to be the busiest seasons for farmers, many forget the crops that can also be grown in winter.

Players should not expect the snow season to be out of work as many crops that grow underground can still be grown, allowing players to still earn a decent income throughout the winter.

10 Star Potato

The durability of a potato is exactly why it is one of the best crops for players to grow during the winter. Compared to the regular potato, players can make a better deal by growing their star variety.

After growing it in the ground for six days, players can harvest and sell four Star Potatoes from a single plant for a decent price of 84G. Cultivating them to a ten star rating increases their retail price to 126G each.

9 Broccoli

Some players don’t like the taste of broccoli, even some residents in the Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town feel the same. However, a player cannot deny the extra money from growing this simple vegetable.

Although it also only takes six days to grow, this crop can be sown in winter as well as continued further into spring if a player wishes. Once harvested, it gives a farmer three crops and can be sold for a base price of 120G or 180G with a ten star rating.

8 clit

Carrot plants also grow considerably well during the winter months which is exactly why players should take the time to plant a bunch of burdock. It is especially important from the point of view of craft to grow, because this crop can only be grown in winter.

When you’re ready to harvest after seven days, players can have a weekly supply of Burdock that they can keep or sell. Selling has its advantages as it improves quality until it can be sold at ten stars for 200G each.

7 Daikon Radish

Players looking for a carrot that grows quickly yet earns a decent amount of gold, look no further than the Daikon Radish. This white carrot grows easily in not only the winter season, but also in the spring, allowing players to grow it even in the late snow days.

Making money fast is easy as the Daikon Radish only takes four days to grow before it can be sold for a whopping 234G minimum with a maximum retail price of 351G.

6 Bok Choy

Unlike its richer look-a-like the Napa cabbage, Bok Choy is generally not one of the most desirable crops players will grow during the winter months. That doesn’t mean it should be ignored, as there are so few available crops in winter that it still deserves a place on the farm.

Bok Choy takes a total of nine days to mature before it can be pulled from the ground by the player, and rewards them with two Bok Choy from their one seed. At a base price of 252G, there is little to complain about.

5 Carrot

Returning to the roasts, carrots are a winter staple and are also used for a variety of other recipes. Players don’t have to wait for the snow to fall either, as carrots can join the farm from fall and then go into winter.

After five days, players can harvest these carrots to store to make carrot juice later or sell them for a mediocre 300G, going up to 450G with ten stars if the player sees himself as a carrot connoisseur.

4 Giant Leek

Players who cross their fingers and pray very hard will have the chance to sprout giant leeks from the normal leek seeds they have sown. Leek itself is a great crop to plant, especially since they are only available in winter, but giant leeks have much more potential.

Once a player has waited the usual four days to grow a leek, a player will see if he is lucky enough to sprout a giant leek. This can be sold for 400G at a base price, making it 200G more expensive than a regular one.

3 cabbage

Enjoyed all the cabbage is another winter staple, mainly because of its mild flavor that goes easily with many foods. The average cabbage takes seven days to grow and can be sown in winter and spring, making it an excellent choice for bulk growing.

Aside from its satisfying taste, it can also be sold for a satisfying price, allowing players to sell it for 448G. This can then be improved until players can make an even better profit in the winter by selling the hefty cabbage for 672G.

2 Fork-Root Daikon

Although the Fork-Root Daikon is a small mutation chance of the average Daikon Radish, it still deserves a place on the list. A player who focuses his efforts on growing this bulbous white carrot is sure to make a profit.

Like its smaller brother, the Fork-Root Daikon takes a total of four days to mature before it can be harvested. If a player is lucky enough to get this harvest, they can sell it for a base price of 468G, making a profit of 216G from the usual.

1 Golden Napa Cabbage

Finally, the Napa cabbage is the best crop to grow during the winter. This crop can only be grown during this cold season and has a small chance of mutating into a Golden Napa Cabbage if the player is lucky.

After growing for six days, a player will know if he’s been lucky, as a gold-colored foliage plant will replace what should be green. After taking it out of the ground, a hard-working farmer can sell this discovery for 884G or 1326G if they are lucky enough to grow it with ten stars.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is now available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC.
