8 Elena Burns Alive

For many players, Elena’s death felt unnecessary. Resident Evil Village it was rumored to have multiple playable characters, Elena probably being one of them. That feature was apparently dropped in the final product, resulting in an anticlimactic character death that, really, was never meant to be.

That said, Elena’s death is still brutal in nature no matter how players feel about it. After they run back to a burning wooden platform when her father, who had turned into one of the ferocious Lycans, called out her name, it becomes clear that her decision to run to him will be the last she’ll ever make. The brittle platform begins to crumble and she painstakingly tells Ethan to go before the platform collapses, and Elena falls into the roaring flames.

7 Mother Miranda

Mother Miranda’s final death scene, while beautifully animated, isn’t the most gruesome death as far as it goes. After Ethan delivers his final blow, Mother Miranda wriggles around, spitting blood before calcifying and taking her last breath.

While her death itself isn’t a bloody mess of guts and blood, Mother Miranda is waging a bloody, hard battle for experienced and novice players alike. Her exuberant screams about her daughter, Eva, who she wanted to bring back to life by infecting Ethan’s daughter Rose with the megamycete, haunts to the end.

6 Donna Beneviento

House Beneviento is all the stuff of nightmares, with a giant misshapen fetus and creepy murderous dolls stalking Ethan behind every dark corner. Donna Beneviento’s death is both sad and grim, with her first and only words spoken by herself (rather than her doll, Angie), “don’t leave, I can’t leave you,” implying that she really wanted to save Ethan. of Mother Miranda and the other Lords.

After finding Angie in her game of life or death of Hide n’ Seek, Ethan stabs her repeatedly with scissors until the illusion finally fades, and it’s revealed that he stabbed Donna himself the whole time and eventually killed her.

5 Karl Heisenberg

Heisenberg had one of the coolest final transformations of the four gentlemen. His strength lies in magnetism, so for his latest transformation, he turned himself into an amalgamation of heavily armored mechanical parts equipped with saws and other deadly machines. The boss fight was unique and challenging with a suitably brutal death sequence.

After dealing the final blow, Heisenberg (still in his giant metal form) staggers back, mulling over his plans to eventually betray and kill Mother Miranda. Then his mass of mechanical parts explodes into a mess of metal and fire, eventually killing the sadistic, power-hungry Fourth Lord.

4 The Sacrifice of Ethan Winters

Ethan’s Survival Against All Odds Resident Evil 7 had fans all over the place supporting him Resident Evil Village. After defeating Mother Miranda, it becomes clear that the beloved protagonist will not live to see his precious daughter grow up.

In an act of sacrifice, Ethan gives Rose to Chris Redfield. He grabs Chris’s detonator and bids Rose one last farewell before returning to the site where he killed Mother Miranda, firing the bomb that would destroy the megamycete and the village once and for all. A secret ending scene shows a teenage Rose visiting Ethan’s grave, confirming that the main character is really dead.

3 Eaten by the mutant baby

The mutated fetus that roams the hallways of the Beneviento house is already humiliating as it is. His swollen black eyes, big mouth and eerie human baby sounds are enough to give players chills as they carefully turn every dark corner.

If the player is caught by the deformed fetus, an ugly, gruesome death scene awaits him. The baby laughs happily as he pulls Ethan by the legs into his big, toothless, drooling mouth and slowly swallows him alive. As the kill sequence plays, players can hear the baby say “yummy” childishly.

Of the four Lords, Moreau felt like one that players could almost empathize with. His overwhelming insecurity in both his appearance and his service to Mother Miranda almost makes players feel guilty for taking the piece of Rose he guards. Don’t feel too guilty; he will charge players for taking back the bottle that would make him lose the respect of Mother Miranda.

Its last mutated form is a large, grotesque beast with eyes clustered on its back. The appearance of his final form is enough to make players gag, but his death sequence is even more horrifying. After dealing the final blow, Moreau begins to inflate with the acid with which he once attacked. He cries in pain and calls out for Mother Miranda, until his suffering finally ends in an explosion of acid and entrails.

1 Crushed by the hammer of Urias

Urias is one of the first boss battles the player has to endure. While it’s not the hardest boss fight in the game, being one of the first, Urias is brutal and relentless in his goal of killing Ethan. Urias wields a giant hammer, which is unlike any other Lycan in that they usually don’t wield anything at all.

If the player dies to Urias, he repeatedly beats Ethan to death with his large, heavy hammer. He hit once, twice, and again, repeatedly crushing his torso in a pool of broken bones and blood. The death sequence is one of the first you come across, and looking through Ethan’s eyes as he is clubbed to death by this massive werewolf will make your stomach turn.

Resident Evil Village is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
