Many don’t know, but you can play games on Netflix. The streaming giant has expanded its portfolio in recent years and started offering games, including some great titles like Into the Breach. We’ll show you which games are available on Netflix and how to play them.

Yes, Netflix has video games. This still seems to be a big secret, or something that people just don’t care about. The streaming service started offering games on their platform last year and even acquired some development studios. Some of these games are really good too, with highlights like Into the Breach and Moonlighter underneath. The games also have no microtransactions or ads and just come with your Netflix subscription, at no extra cost.

That’s all great, and Netflix’s foray into gaming just keeps getting better. But that doesn’t seem to be paying off yet as no one is playing them. And I’m here to tell you this is a shame.

A new report from Apptopia revealed that less than 1% of Netflix subscribers play the games on the service on a daily basis. Big jackets. That translates to about 1.7 million people, which still sounds like a lot. But despite crashing numbersNetflix still has over 221 million subscribers. That really puts things in perspective. No one uses Netflix games, but if you have a subscription, you should definitely check it out.

Netflix games: how do you play them?

Fortunately, it is quite easy to play games on Netflix. While there are a few quirks associated with it, you shouldn’t have any problems gaming. Just follow these three steps:

  • Open the Netflix app on your smartphone or tablet. You should see a “Games” tab at the bottom of the screen (Android), or you can scroll down a bit to see it (iOS). Click on it to go to the selection of games.
  • Click on the game you want to play and then click on “Get Game”. This will take you to your device’s store (Google Play Store for Android or App Store for iOS). Download the game.
  • Now you can launch the game via the Netflix app or via its own executable on your device. After the first launch, the game will ask you which Netflix profile you want to lose, and you will remain logged in to that profile.

And that’s it. It feels weird at first that it takes you from Netflix to the storefront, but that little quirk doesn’t really hinder accessibility too much. Once you have downloaded the game, you can launch it from your phone just like any other app. Easy and convenient, Bosch.

Netflix games: all available games

At the time of writing, there are 26 games on Netflix. Here they are all in alphabetical order

  • Arcanium: Rise of Akhani
  • Asphalt Xtreme
  • For your eyes
  • bowling ball players
  • Card blast
  • Domino’s Cafe
  • Dungeon Dwarves
  • dragon up
  • Exploding Kittens
  • Hextech Mayhem: A League of Legends Story
  • in the breach
  • Into the Dead 2: Unleashed
  • Knitwear
  • Krispee Street
  • Mahjong Solitaire
  • beunhaas
  • pointpy
  • Relic Hunters: Rebels
  • Shatter remastered
  • Shooting Hoops
  • Stranger Things: 1984
  • Stranger Things 3: The Game
  • Teeter (up)
  • This is a true story
  • Townsmen – A Rebuilt Kingdom
  • Wonder putt forever

That is good. Sure, there are your typical mobile titles, simple games, or messy titles that can be good to keep you entertained for a few hours of commuting. And no, I don’t know why there are two Stranger Things games either. But there are also some certified firecrackers in this roster.

The best games are probably beunhaas and in the breach. Both are among the best indie games of recent years. Infringement especially is simply amazing, one of the best strategy and puzzle games of all time. I love it and I highly recommend checking out the fantastic mobile version as well.

Netflix wants to expand the number of games to 50 until April 2023, which would almost double. Still, of course, the service can’t quite compete with Apple Arcade or Xbox Game Pass. But it’s worth a try if you’re already subscribed to Netflix. And over 200 million people still are, even if the service is increasingly criticized?. So there’s a good chance that you also have a Netflix sub running and if you do, be sure to give these games a try.
