Coming back in February, Horizon Forbidden West received positive reviews from fans and critics alike. The sequel to 2017 Horizon Zero Dawn was praised for building on the original game while taking some completely new directions. While the reception Horizon Forbidden West positive, this hasn’t stopped developer Guerilla Games from working on the open-world title and improving it with each new patch. Now, the last update for Horizon Forbidden West is here in patch 1.18, and it has brought a number of fixes and changes.
In addition to the usual bug fixes in patch 1.18, Horizon Forbidden West also added a new cosmetic item to celebrate Pride. The new Mark of Pride cosmetic paints Aloy’s face in the colors of the Pride flag, which represents the LGBTQIA+ community. This is the only piece of extra content being brought to Horizon Forbidden West with the latest patch, which mainly focuses on improvements to the game, including fixing various issues.
Some bugs in ‘s main missions Horizon Forbidden West have been established. Namely, Faro’s Tomb will no longer contain a missing merchant in Thebes, the Embassy mission will now also be free of floating weapons that appeared in a particular movie, and in The Kulrut, Hekarro will no longer be blocked behind an invisible wall. There are also some significant changes to side missions and world activities, including similar fixes that prevent certain missions from completing.
Outside the quests in Horizon Forbidden West, there are also some updates to the AI and ways machines behave. Some new VFX have been added to the Tremortusk and Thunderjaw, making those giant machines even more intimidating. In addition, the Dreadwing is in Horizon Forbidden West now has a higher chance of attacking the player in forested areas, meaning Aloy can’t hide in the trees from the flying predator. Patch 1.18 brings a total of over 50 changes to the game, showing some major quality of life improvements for Horizon Forbidden Westeven though there isn’t much new content.
Previously, in other patches for Horizon Forbidden West, some surprising new features have been added to the game, such as a New Game+ option, as well as improvements to the title’s performance modes. Looks like Guerrilla Games will keep giving Horizon Forbidden West consistent updates in the future, and there’s some discussion about future DLC as well, so fans will have to keep a close eye on what the developer is up to.
