The MSI Vigor GK71 Keyboard comes in a white cardboard box. Pictured on the other side is the device and on the other side a large number of products.
The keyboard is neatly stored and covered with a few layers of cardboard to protect it from damage during transport.
The kit includes a key, a cap lockout and a wrist rest.
There are no instructions, but they can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s official website.
Appearance
MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic is a full 104 key keyboard. This is an ode to modern technology, but it does not yet have large frames and protruding elements and can therefore still be called compact without stretch.
The device consists of an aluminum plate and is cut into pieces for switching and displaying indicators. Due to this model, the model is heavy, so that the table is stable. Folding legs and cushions at the bottom also contribute to this. Its leg also allows you to change the angle of inclination.
The unusual ClearCaps consist of two layers, one of the main elements of the keyboard. The top half of the hat is transparent and the bottom half is black. Due to this solution, the backlight of the model turned out to be very bright and beautiful, and there is also the feeling that the buttons float above the case. That looks interesting.
The symbols are arranged in a strange way, but in a very nice way, but this is personal preference. There is a clearer line in the top crest, which is a Latin fetus and a Latin numeral. This does not affect the readability of the Cyrillic alphabet. It is not necessary to use the device without a backlight. The key that FN called “Leaver” has a unique design: a dragon is translated into the brand logo.
In the top right corner of the device are three keys to control music, and a volume control has been put together to mute the sound.
I never found individual multi-level keys useful, but for me personally, the volume wheel in the MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic keyboard was great, even when I was working on a PC. However, there is also a fly in the fold with many feathers. This doesn’t affect the ease of work and won’t affect it in the future, but it turns out it doesn’t feel too comfortable, so it doesn’t feel too heavy.
On the side of the arrow, you will see three LEDs indicating Caps Lock, Numpad, and Game Mode. The Win button is inactive.
On the underside of the keyboard, plus the aforementioned non-slip pads and folding feet, is a cable and a sticker on the handwriting label.
MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic is a hard to use computer. This is enough to connect the device to the system unit, which is located somewhere in the middle of the table.
The keyboard has a support around the wrist. It is made of synthetic leather-like fabric and inside is an easy filler with memory. To the left of the table is the brand name as depicted in a dragon. The feet of the chair remain in position to keep the floor on the table. It is not a magnetic holder and is therefore placed near the keyboard.
Overall, my opinion of the MSI Vigor GK71 microphone is positive. It is sturdy and smaller and can be run in a small size. The backlight is packed with the variety of functions, a palm rest, the instrument and the volume key, which for me personally become very useful.
No configuration and connection software is required.
The keyboard can be connected to the computer via a USB-A cable and then prompted to download the MSI Center software utility to configure and control the backlight.
The user enters the main window, where there are three tabs on the left.

First, you’ll find access to the louvers on Gaming Gear and Mystic Light. The second reassures you that the communication is not good.
Gaming Gear is a window to understand how the keyboard works. What can be done in this article is to put the macros on three profiles. Significantly, just using it for that is not enough.
Mystic Light is a program to set the backlight, well known for its name. You have plenty of options.
The user has three profiles, with each of the nine glow modes, and there are alternating dynamic and static, as well as multicolored or monochromatic. For each of them, you can change the color, direction, speed and brightness. This tab also gives you a better view of the backlighting of different companies.
With regard to the software, it is worth noting that it is mediocrely implemented.
First, it is defective, most of the tabs are in Russian and most of the texts are in English. Second, where there is a capital letter, where the small letter looks ugly, plus errors. For example, the Product tab is actually in lowercase and was called Product.
I didn’t like splitting the utilities into two different gaming equipment and Mystic Light. Although the backlight has a relatively large number of options, setting the work is not necessary to record all macros.
In addition to a lack of localization, such a product is not necessary.
The backlight and the controls.
The keyboard backlight is called Mystic Light. This is a separate LED for each key. It is very bright and has many operating modes, which makes it best for you to customize it for yourself.
I like that there are a few modes that exist at once and that there are both static and dynamic options; and the addition of a single color and a multicolor glow option is useful.
For lovers of bright modes, you can choose some kind of RGB whirlwind, while everything glows bright, the colors change in a circle, and if you change the speed, you can consider all that extravaganza at the same time.
If clear solutions don’t meet your needs, you can choose a static mode or just set the minimum speed and set an original color. For example, I like green light, but it’s not for everyone.
You can control the backlight not only through the utility, but also directly through key combinations.
On the other hand, the keyboard should also display symbols to control the backlight, but on the other hand they are not completely clear. Before I decided to go for anything I was asked to follow the instructions from the official website as the paper version is not included in the kit.
This means that you have to use keyboard shortcuts to control the backlight.
- NFE + DEL change direction.
- FN+INS changes the operating mode.
- FN + HOME/END change speed.
- FN + GUP/PGDN shrinks/adds the shadow.
- NF + up/down brightness change.
- FN + left / right change the color of the backlight.
It’s not really difficult; you can watch the instructions once and then forget.
Usage Displays
The Microsoft Vigor GK71 Sonic has impressive features, nice additions to multimedia and bright backlighting, but the main question is: how comfortable is the keyboard?
Featuring MSI’s signature Sonic Red Switch, they offer quiet operation with 4mm, 1.9mm travel depth reaching the actuation point and 35g actuation force.
All this seems to indicate that the keys are very easily pressed and responsive. The fingers are actually fine: they do not tire at all, and the slightest effort is enough to fix the press. There are some details.
These switches have no physical or audible response, they are very quick to press, so some people may feel uncomfortable with them. If you were a slave to the game while you were in the dock, if you didn’t give yourself a handful of the WASD-Load. The keyboard can give us an indication of the slightest finger tension, leading to the actions that I had not planned.
For me personally, this is not a special problem because when I play a game I don’t always care about the outcome. If you’re a sniper, a strategist waiting for the best moment to attack, or a stealth enthusiast where it takes persistence not to give yourself away, this can cause a lot of trouble.
In general, in addition to the above nuance, the keyboard is great: it is quiet, fast and does not tire your hands either, even if you spend some time at work or playing games.
Conclusion
The MSI Vigor GK71 Sonic is a handy keyboard, not without its flaws.
Everything is made of good wood. The design, the bright backlight with a wide range of settings, the MSI Smart Red switches provide fast response, quick press and quiet operation. A nice bonus is the armband support, which has both a music button and speaker-pressor, as well as the long braided cable.
Disadvantages lack of very clear backlight, which I can figure out through the instructions, but also the most successful software implementation. That’s terrible and I don’t like the program, but it’s just a feature and partial localization.
I also note that, for me, the shortcomings are not too great, as I am not a hardcore player, therefore I usually have enough default keyboard settings, I am not interested in software at all. From the point of view of management, it is not so difficult to look at the instructions one by one to clarify all the nuances of the work.
The overall impression of the novelty is so strong that the minuses seem more important than the minuses, which is why I consider the MSI Vigor GK71 keyboard an excellent product worthy of being on the table of any gamer.
