The Flexispot BS10 is a no-nonsense, ergonomic chair designed with a backrest. Does it outperform its gaming chair competitors? or should it stay in the office?
While gaming chairs are seemingly taking over office space and gaming setups worldwide, is there room for a chair like the Flexispot BS10 in 2022? Well, if you’re like us, who prefers practicality to branding, then this might be something to keep an eye on.

Edit
The unit we received from the Flexispot BS10 had clearly been built before. We assume that if you bought the chair directly from the store, it would not have arrived like ours.
It arrived in a modest box and led us to the assembly. While it wasn’t particularly difficult to assemble, we did run into a minor problem where the screws for the headrest were screwed in.
This caused a slight panic during assembly as we were concerned that the full seat would not be built.
However, building the chair took only 45 minutes in total. We recommend that you do not do this alone, as you must carefully balance the backrest on the seat. It snaps into a small opening, which you then screw in, but without an extra pair of hands, it flips over quickly.
This was the first time we thought we were going to break something on the seat, but the plastic stayed true, but the worry still nags through our brains.
Flexispot BS10: Design and build quality
We don’t know exactly how it happened, but after a week of using the Flexispot BS10, we no longer had minor back pain, which we experienced in our older office chair. Upon inspection of our old chair, it was found to be at a slight angle, causing our spines to misalign during working hours.
With the Flexispot BS10 you sit with a sliding backrest, a comfortable seat and a headrest that you can lean against despite its hard exterior. There’s no leatherette or over-cushioned upholstery here, as the BS10 is designed for ergonomics.
The arms are made of thick plastic, which encases the metal stems inside. They feel solid and rarely move unless pushed directly. The only weakness in the entire design of the chair is the thin nylon frame on the backrest, which allows your back to lean into the firmer, sliding backrest that props you forward.
If you’re more used to the Secretlab style chair, this will come as a shock. The whole design isn’t there to look good, but to make sure you don’t ruin your body with hours of gaming or work time.
Feeling for everything
It’s a sensible chair, with a build quality to support it. This thing endured our poor build, the haphazard shipping process, and a week or so of use without even any evidence that anyone used it.
This is not a gaming chair, it has that vague feeling of being with you forever. Literally becoming part of the furniture.
Flexispot’s understated design and gray Office Space look means it doesn’t stick out awkwardly like the rest of its contemporaries at the moment. Even things like the Mavix M9 still try to be more than they really are, with a futuristic or ‘gamer’ look to things that keep people from investing in a decent, helpful chair.
We also love the wheels on the Flexispot BS10. They are smooth, no real force is needed to swing around or move up and down the room to grab something.
Armrest Problems
Getting the armrests to the desired height is quite easy, as long as you use some force. The problem then, without consulting the manual, since it is a chair, is getting them down again. Even after looking at the manual, we were still not quite sure.
It turns out that you have to pull the arms all the way up to their maximum height, then pull further and feel it release so you can put the armrests back down. It feels like a big mistake, but also one that you may have to deal with once or twice until you find exactly where you want to rest your arms.
It still felt unnecessarily complicated, especially when there are two tabs under the supports, which seemingly do nothing but allow you to maneuver the armrests in or out. For a $400 seat, we expected more on this front.
Flexispot BS10: Comfort
This isn’t a chair where you sit back at the end of the day, turning on your PC to play some Counter-Strike or Monster Hunter. Instead, it prioritizes ergonomics and ensures that you don’t bend your back out of shape during extended periods of sitting.
Yet it is an extremely comfortable chair, with the Flexispot making sure that it is not all business. It’s always good to have that firm, reassuring support. While this lacks the cushioned materials of a gaming chair, it makes up for it with its thin nylon backrest that offers decent travel the further you lean into it.
The armrests are made of thick, gray plastic and some may find them a little uncomfortable after a while. However, we found them to be perfect and didn’t mind their rigidity at all.
Should you buy the Flexispot BS10?
Our recommendation comes with a huge asterisk next to it. This is not a chair if you want to show off. Nor is it a chair to be taken lightly. At $400, the Flexispot BS10 is an investment more than anything else.
An investment in your well-being, and ensures that you do not have to buy a new chair for a long, long time. While we said we feared we might break the seat on a few points in the review, we found it held back our manipulation quite well.
There are some odd decisions, like tabs to pull on instead of buttons, and the armrest adjustment is more of a mistake than anything, Flexispot doesn’t seem to care about usability in that capacity.
That’s not really a knock on Flexispot or the BS10 as a whole as we think this is an excellent alternative for those wanting something practical rather than flashy looks. The lack of usability ensures that you don’t mess with the seat too much, which makes up for the delicate balance of ergonomics that the BS10 delivers in bulk.
The important message here, however, is that it has solved a minor back problem of ours, which we’re sure the BS10 will force us to sit on properly. Perhaps ergonomic keyboards are next.
