Two spiritual successors to fan-favorite RPG series team up for a “Double Kickstarter”. Taking a cue from Suikoden Successor Eiyuden ChronicleWild Bunch Productions Armed Fantasy: To the End of the Wilderness is a follow-up to the Western-themed JRPG series Wild weapons. Yukikaze and Studio Wildrose’s Penny Blood follows in the footsteps of shadow hearts, which mixed horror with historical fiction. Both Wild weapons and shadow heartsAlthough lesser-known series, developed a devoted cult following, in part because they offered fans of the game genre something different from the usual fantasy or sci-fi settings. Both Kickstarter projects have contributors who contributed to the series that inspired them, including: Wild weapons creator Akifumi Kaneko and shadow hearts creator Matsuzo Machida. Each game is seeking $750,000 in crowdfunding support. That’s not much for a video game, which could mean that the projects will be sold to established publishers if they get the funding they’re looking for.
Supporters can choose which game to support, or both, but the “Double Kickstarter” uses a “Combo Meter” to unlock certain stretch goals, which basically means supporting either game helps the other to some extent. Commitments for one title go towards unlocking ‘Combo Meter Content’ for both games.
