Below you will find an overview (via Steam):
The world is in turmoil.
Living off their riches the old empires have become complacent, their established world order cannot contain the rising ambitions of new powers. Is it foolish to challenge the Imperial armies, backed by overflowing treasuries? Perhaps, but glory and fame await those who show no fear.
Choose from 25 playable factions and try different gameplay styles on a massive 5000 tile map. Enjoy an easy start with Carthage, Ptolemaic or Seleucid Empire whose vast kingdoms are supported by functional economies and strong armies. Test your leadership skills as Antigonus, Lysimachus or Hellas, deal with ambitious neighbors and rebellions in their own country. Take on a challenge and play as Etruscans, Romans or Samnites – small states embroiled in decades-long wars. Dive into an extra hard game with a battle cry on your lips as the leader of one of the nomadic or semi-nomadic tribes whose survival is at stake.
That’s not all, however. Aside from 25 playable factions, the scenario features a number of migrating tribes eager to create their own kingdoms and conquer their own place in the sun.
Migratory Tribes
The independent nomads who live on the fringes of the civilized world are only a burden to the existing kingdoms. They defend their settlements and the right to a good life with unwavering brutality, thus limiting the expansion efforts of the established states.Seemingly without a unified government, the separate groups belonging to one tribe move and act uniformly. They don’t just wander aimlessly in uninhabited lands; they move in waves to regions where they want to settle. Depending on the strength and distances between the individual nomadic groups, they can form independent kingdoms and become a new player in the political landscape.
No state can ignore the tribes on their borders, they must be held accountable.
Multiturn events
As a ruler, you have the most control over what happens within the boundaries of your realm, but the favor of the gods should not be taken for granted. You must be prepared for events beyond your control that could have devastating consequences.
Natural disasters, diseases or social unrest are destructive and always disruptive. The way they propagate from their source will be more sophisticated. They will spread slowly and logically, mimicking such events in a more realistic way. This should enable you to respond and take any precautions you deem necessary. However, if not acted on in time, a small flame can turn into an all-consuming fire, threatening the very survival of the ruling house and perhaps the empire.Historical events
While we strive for maximum historical authenticity, once you enter the game you create an alternate history in which times and locations of events may vary. The AI adapts to these new developments, but can also channel events into streams that mimic historical events. We plan to realize a number of events inspired by historical scenarios. As the game progresses, they must follow as logical results to the current state, which is activated when certain conditions are met.
Everything has consequences, even small acts of kindness or hostility.
Mandatory Objectives
You have just taken the throne and are acquainted with the political, economic and military situation of your country. Your predecessors left you a number of short and medium term goals to guide you through the early stages of your rule. You can choose your own path, but the advice of the elders should not be completely ignored. You will be asked to choose an objective from the list of available objectives that you promise to complete. Rewards are always awarded on completion and penalties for failure.
Listen to the voices of your ancestors and follow their wise guidance.
Empires: Greek Wars is available on Windows PC through Steam.
