Far be it from me to say that FOMO is fundamentally ingrained in the way Destiny 2’s loot grind works, but I must remind you that this is the last week you can get a PLUG ONE.1 fusion rifle in the near future. It will exit the rotation of potential Nightfall rewards next season, with no return date. That’s important because PLUG is a very strong Arc weapon, making it well placed to take advantage of all the Arc synergies that season 18′s subclass rework. You want a decent PLUG in your arsenal.
How To Get Plug One Adept
The good news is that you have until the next weekly reset (6pm BST/10am PST/1am EST on August 16) to sharpen for the gun, and it’s relatively easy. To get a PLUG you need to perform this week’s Nightfall attack. Note that the chances of the gun dropping increases with difficulty, so you’ll want to pick at least the Legend (1560) or ideally Master (1590) version.
Really, I recommend putting on your big Guardian pants and going for Grandmaster. It requires you to have 1585 power and limits your effective level so you take more and deal less damage, but the upside is that you are guaranteed a weapon on every successful run – provided you kill all the champions and earn a Platinum rating as a result . Your reward is the ‘Proficient‘ version of PLUG, which gives a slight stat boost once you get the hang of it and allows you to place proficient mods.
I’ve spent a lot of time using proficient PLUG rolls over the past few seasons, so I’m well placed to make special recommendations. If you want to see everything available, check out D2 Gunsmith, where you can build your own perfect roll. Below I’ve broken down the perks to look for in PvE and PvP, with my preferred options at the top.
What is the Plug One god roll?
In PvE, this is an easy one: Bursting reservoir is by far the most important thing to look for. It deals an AoE blast with increased damage when you have a full magazine. Perfect for clearing waves of ads with a single shot. Because you always want to shoot with a full magazine, Compulsive Reloader and Feeding Frenzy perfectly combine. If you don’t get either, consider getting a Fusion gun holster mod on your boots so you can switch to the PLUG and make sure it’s fully loaded. In terms of damage Accelerated coils and Liquid Coils are basically a wash, so it comes down to whether you want crack or lasting damage respectively. A slightly more niche option to consider is Adaptive ammunition, which will make the weapon significantly more effective against mismatched shields. Useful in high-end content with the Match Game modifier, especially since the multiple bolts in a burst quickly increase the effect.

little boredom | Accelerated coils | Compulsive Reloader | Bursting reservoir |
Corkscrew Rifling | particle repeater | Feeding Frenzy | Adrenaline junkie |
Fluted barrel | Liquid Coils | Adaptive ammo |
What is the PvP Plug One god roll?
As is often the case, in PvP you want to make the weapon a more consistent killing machine. In the case of PLUG, that means barrels and magazines that increase reach and stability. As for the main benefits, Under pressure is god tier in PvP because the lack of ammo means the effect is almost always active. Killing Wind and Successful warm-up combine beautifully as both progress, making them perfect if you’re already the kind of player that beats with fusion guns. Is more situational kickstartwhich certainly takes some getting used to, but gives a 20% damage buffer and faster charge speed when sliding.

Which mod should I use with Plug One?
For PvE, Adept Groten mod is particularly useful, as it deals +7.77 damage against Elites, Minibosses, and Bosses (i.e. all orange and yellow bar enemies). For PvP, Adept charging time will allow you to fire a little faster without sacrificing the five-bolt kill. Otherwise, I’d again try increasing reach or stability depending on what your role needs help with the most. Voop-loving PvP expert Legoleflash recommends a Skilled targeting mod in his PLUG guide, which I’ve embedded below.
Tips for Beating This Week’s Nightfall: The Arms Dealer
- Arbalest is essential: In any content with Barrier Champions and the Match Game modifier, Arbalest is an absolute beast. So much so that I expect it to be nerfed again next season. Arby’s ability to chew through all shields means you can take advantage of the Solar singe for your energy and power weapons. We used scout rifles to tackle Unstoppable Champions (Vision of Confluence or Staccato-46), then Rocket Launchers for boss damage (Hezen Vengeance or Ascendancy). One fireteam member has to run Gjallarhorn so everyone gets the advantage of Wolfpack Rounds.
- Skip the driveway section: One of the few tacky parts in what is otherwise a fairly easy attack is the area with the ramp leading to the large Cabal ship. Fortunately, almost all of this section can be skipped. Either climb up the far left side of the ramp, or Sparrow through the gap below and head up the far right side. Whichever you choose, once you’re on the ramp, post behind a box and pick the Barrier Champion with your Arbalests. Once he’s dead book him up the ramp to safety on your sparrows, ignoring all other enemies.
- Easy bake the boss: Arms Dealer is a breeze, provided you don’t get into a lengthy battle with the boss and his cronies. To prevent that, we’re going to kill him while the elevator goes to his arena. To help the burn happen, one of your teammates must climb all the way up the chain before activating the elevator. This will spawn the boss early and buy valuable seconds of DPS. Dump missiles into him on the ride up, then finish him off with burst supers like Thundercrash, Blade Barrage, and Nova Bomb.
As always, GM enthusiast Ekuegan has an excellent guide to fast, safe arms dealers on his channel, which I’ve re-embedded below. Jump in and let me know if you drop a god roll in the comments. I’ve been hunting for a Reservoir Burst/Compulsive Reloader roll all week, or until my RSI becomes unmanageable. I know which is most likely to happen first.
