A former UI artist has created a great rendering of what Scooby-Doo would look like starring in a SuperMassive horror game like The Quarry.
A beautiful work of art has been reinvented Scooby Doo as the quarry developer Supermassive Games’ next big horror project. Although Scooby-Doo and his friends have been a childhood icon for generations, they still manage to get into much more adult horror situations thanks to creatively insidious fans. Because of the desire to have Mystery Inc. witnessing more dangerous encounters, fans even believe a Scooby-Doo crossover with Dead in daylight‘s murderous experience could eventually happen.
Like the 2015 Supermassive interactive horror game Until sunrise, the quarry allows players to control a group of characters through an interactive cinematic horror story. As the story progresses, players will have to make numerous choices about the characters’ actions, each of which can determine their fate and the overall outcome of the story. As you’d expect in a game modeled after horror movies, character deaths are a likely outcome for all nine members of the main playable cast. But with multiple playthroughs and a little luck, persistent players can find a way to make them all come out alive. After all, half the fun of quarry‘s character deaths is watching the multiple endings that result from the tragedies.
Simon Brewera former Lead UI Artist at Rocksteady Games, shared via Twitter an impressive work showing Scooby-Doo the star of a quarrylike horror title. The hypothetical game is titled Scooby-Doo Last Rites: Death in the Parish and went like The Mysterious Anthology – a reluctant amalgamation of Scooby-Doo’s Mytery Inc. and Supermassives Anthology of Dark Picture. Until sunrise fans will recognize that the artwork was styled after Until sunrisethe title screen. What brings the whole work together is the dramatic lighting on Scooby as he gazes wistfully into the distance amid the dilapidated monastery in the background. Given Brewer’s expertise in UI design, it’s no wonder this menu has become so beautiful.
Scooby-Doo fits right in with Supermassive Horror Games
Scooby-Doo and his friends seem to have been making the rounds in the gaming industry lately. Along with Simon Brewer’s art, a fan recently used the Sims 4 to recreate Scooby-Doo and the gang in the High School Years Expansion Pack. Another fanwork was a recreation of the classic intro from Scooby Doo Where are you? with assets of Animal Crossing. On a more official note, Shaggy has had the honor of sharing Cover Art space with the legendary Batman on Warner Bros.’s latest character brawler, MultiVersus.
Whether in well-known cartoon hijinx or between more gruesome spheres such as the quarryScooby-Doo’s presence adds charm to any work. With so many fans and industry experts bringing Scooby into the world of video games, it may be a matter of time before Scooby-Doo officially transitions to gaming as he has with Hollywood in the past. While more sinister video game settings can be too terrifying for Scooby Doohe could do it for a Scooby Snack.
