The Batman: Arkham series has a large number of playable characters, but one stands out as the most capable in both stealth and Freeflow combat.

The Batman: Arkham series offers a wide variety of playable characters, but one stands above the rest as the ultimate warrior of Gotham. The series got bigger and bigger between Arkham Asylum and Arkham Knight, with a cast of playable heroes and villains growing accordingly. While some are more similar than others, these different characters generally have their own unique fighting styles and gadgets. However, one character in particular beats the rest of the Arkham schedule.

While Batman Arkham Asylum maybe a better story Arkham City its predecessor a step up in terms of playable characters. The first game will exclusively cast players as the Dark Knight, and his nemesis Joker will be available exclusively as Challenge Mode DLC on PlayStation 3. Arkham City, meanwhile, lets players control Catwoman at specific points for her own unique story missions. Robin and Nightwing were later added as Challenge Mode DLC, bringing the game’s total number of playable heroes to four. Batman: Arkham Originsmeanwhile removed Batman’s allies but made the assassin Deathstroke and a younger version of Bruce Wayne playable as DLC.

Under the whole Batman: Arkham franchise, Batman: Arkham Knight reigns supreme in the realm of playable characters. While the last episode of the series has been removed Batman: Arkham Origins’ playable Deathstroke and Bruce Wayne, it brought back all three extra heroes from Arkham City and added Azrael. DLC also allowed players to unlock Red Hood, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl, bringing the total number of playable characters to eight. While Azrael is largely a Batman reskin without many of his gadgets, the rest of the cast mostly owns their own unique combat moves and gadgets. While the selection of playable characters in Arkham Knight is certainly impressive, one character stands out from the rest.

While it may seem obvious, Batman is undeniably the most playable character in the game Batman: Arkham franchisee. The Batman: Arkham The Freeflow combat system was designed with the Dark Knight in mind, so his attacks and abilities are at the heart of every experience. He also usually has the largest arsenal of gadgets out of the entire playable roster, giving him a huge variety of tactics for both combat and stealth. Players can also upgrade Batman anywhere Arkham game, which is reflected in the Challenge Mode, allowing his abilities to expand and change throughout the experience. While he may not be the most unique character, Batman makes up for it with strength and unique high-tech weapons.


Though many players will enjoy controlling the playable Batman: Arkham villains, it’s hard to deny that Batman is actually the most playable character in the series. Players spend most of their in-game time as the Caped Crusader, and his arsenal of gadgets and upgrades make him a powerhouse in both combat and stealth. Whether they strike from the shadows or beat up an army of crooks, Arkham players are always smart to bet on Batman over any other Gotham warrior.
