When it comes to a typical anime family, the first member that always stands out is usually the main character’s mother or the matriarch of a family. As a result, other family members, such as anime sisters, receive less attention and therefore can sometimes disappear from viewers’ minds.

However, despite this lack of attention, there is still no shortage of anime sisters known to fans for their personalities. Plus, biological sisters may be more prominent, but lately, adoptive anime sisters are getting more love. These anime stepsisters show that sometimes love can transcend the bloodline.

8 Mikasa Ackerman – Attack on Titan

After being rescued from a group of traffickers, Mikasa was adopted into the Yeager family, whom she loved as much as her biological parents. She especially developed a close relationship with Eren and often helped him out of difficult situations when he was a child.

Like Eren, Mikasa chose to join the Survey Corps after the attack on Wall Maria and the death of their mother. She is currently one of the strongest members of the Survey Corps, but she still prioritizes Eren’s safety and well-being above all else.

7 Rukia Kuchiki – Bleach

After being left on the outskirts of Rukongai, Rukia was eventually taken in by the Kuchiki family, becoming Byakuya’s younger stepsister in the process. Realizing this, she blames herself for being the source of their conflict and for ruining their peaceful family life, sending her into a deep depression.

5 Nojiko – One Piece

Like Nami, Nojiko was raised by former Marine Belle-mere in Cocoyashi Village after finding them both in the middle of a battlefield. However, unlike Nami, Nojiko was aware of her status as an adopted child. Nevertheless, she still loved Belle-mere and was devastated when she was murdered.

Even after Arlong’s defeat, Nojiko still cares about Nami’s well-being and is content with the fact that Nami is happy with the Straw Hat Pirates.

4 Akeginu – Basilisk

Akeginu acts as Oboro’s bodyguard and also cares for her like a younger sister. When it came time for Oboro to meet Gennosuke according to their arranged marriage, it was Akeginu who helped her get ready and soothed her hiccups when she got nervous.

Of all the Iga ninjas, Akeginu is one of the two people who are more lenient with Oboro’s lack of combat skills, the other being Koshiro. Even when Oboro decided to close her eyes, an act that almost meant betrayal, Akeginu still supported her to the best of his ability.

3 Aika Fuwa – Zetsuen no Tempest

The mysterious Aika Fuwa had a rather distant nature to those around her. Wise beyond her age, Aika’s overwhelming presence, coupled with her status as the Mage of Exodus, makes those around her rather uncomfortable.

2 Sagiri Izumi – Eromanga Sensei

Initially, Sagiri struggles to open up to her stepbrother Masamune. She would refuse to hang out with him if he was around. It wasn’t until she discovered that Masamune was also working in the light novel industry that she finally began to associate with him, happily illustrating her stepbrother’s works.

Sagiri also had a loving relationship with her mother; it was her mother who taught her how to draw, and her death eventually drove Sagiri into withdrawal. It is only when she streams live, under the pseudonym Eromanga Sensei, that Sagiri is most extroverted.

1 Shiro – No game, no life

Compared to her stepbrother Sora, Shiro is much more down to earth, rarely shows emotions and has an analytical mind. She is still very dependent on Sora, to the point that she will become immobile if separated from him for a long time.

In the middle of a game, Shiro is relentless and doesn’t hesitate to show off her skills at every opportunity. Despite her childish appearance, Shiro has no qualms about letting others perform humiliating tasks for her, a trait that shocks even her stepbrother.
