Darth Malak returns in the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake. That’s right, KOTOR is coming back for the PlayStation 5 and PC. It is being developed by Aspyr and LucasMovie Games, who previously collaborated on KOTOR’s mobile gateway. Needless to say, this announcement was exciting for millions of international gamers.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic was an international success with over 1.3 million copies sold. The remake is expected to experience a similar level of international success for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Pre-orders are not available to date and no one can accurately predict the financial success of the KOTOR remake.
Unfortunately, little information about this upcoming remake has been provided by Aspyr or LucasFilm Games. All we have received is an announcement trailer in September 2021 PlayStation Showcase Event. Since then, minimal updates have been provided by both companies. Fortunately, we’ve gathered below what information is available to you.
Will Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic be released in 2023?
Don’t expect the KOTOR remake to arrive in 2023, because there have been no announcements suggesting this MMORPG is coming next year. Aspyr is known to remain in KOTOR’s early development, meaning Knights of the Old Republic shouldn’t launch before 2024/25. However, our predictions are purely speculative and should not be taken as fact.
Itnoted that Aspyr and LucasFilm Games are launching the KOTOR Remake as a timed exclusive with the PS5/PC. After the timed contract is completed, this upcoming MMORPG can be launched on other platforms such as the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck.
Game setting, story and everything we know about KOTOR Remake
Four thousand years for Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobithere was Darth Malak. He was an imposing Sith Lord who was known to overcome any obstacle. However, this would change after the events of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. Countless Jedi from across the galaxy joined forces to defeat Darth Malak and learn more about the Star Forge.
No one expected the revelation that your character is secretly Darth Revan with amnesia. For those who didn’t know, Darth Revan was considered the most powerful Sith Lord before Darth Malak. And this leads everyone to make an unexpected decision, which is to join the light or dark side of the force.
If you choose the light side, Darth Malak will be destroyed and you will be hailed as a galactic hero. But choosing the dark side means destroying Darth Malak and reclaiming your title as Darth Revan, Mandalorian Sith.
Beyond the storyline, Aspyr and LucasFilm Games take KOTOR’s development seriously. It is being redesigned from the ground up, as revealed by lead producer Ryan Treadwell. He claimed:
We’re rebuilding one of the greatest RPGs of all time for a new generation with modern technology, features, visuals and more, while preserving the integrity of the story and characters we’ve come to cherish.
Is Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC?
As mentioned before, the KOTOR Remake launches as a timed exclusive with the PlayStation 5 and pc. This means that Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic will not be exclusive to the PS5 for a longer period. Eventually it will be made available on the Xbox Series X/S and steam deck.
There is even the possibility that Aspyr will launch this upcoming game for the Nintendo Switch. However, most rumors have suggested that this is not possible. Don’t hope for a mobile port outside the Steam Deck.
Is Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic part of Xbox Game Pass?
Unfortunately, we don’t believe the KOTOR remake on the . will appear Xbox Game Pass. LucasFilm Games has not released their titles through Xbox Game Pass unless those titles were developed under Electronic art.
That’s why Front, Jedi Fallen Orderand Squadrons are available for download today. But you’ll find that there’s nothing available on the Xbox Game Pass that LucasFilm Games designed outside of Electronic Arts development.
Is Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Coming to the Steam Deck?
We are confident that the Steam Deck will be able to run Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic as we have seen this portable console perform with some incredible games like god of war and Elden Ring.
If this mobile phone can handle such games, it would make sense for the KOTOR Remake to be supported. Unfortunately, there have been no announcements suggesting that Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic will launch as a Steam Deck Verified Game.
Installing KOTOR on the Steam Deck can be more complicated than expected. However, you don’t have to worry; we will update you on the installation process as soon as more information is available.
Game trailer
“Peace is a lie; that’s what the Sith believe. They promise power, and now they wield it. We are facing the greatest Sith in generations; they must be stopped.”
Here’s what we’re told as the announcement trailer for Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic unfolds. Unfortunately, there were no gameplay footage for the upcoming remake. Instead, we got a glimpse of the updated character model for Darth Revan.
This is surprising as we will be going up against Darth Malak. We think Aspyr and LucasFilm Games are saving the best for last. Aren’t you excited? We are!
