Epic has launched Fortnite Refer A Friend to encourage players to involve their friends. Here’s how to join and earn exclusive cosmetics.
It’s hard to imagine Fortnite’s player base continues to grow, but with the launch of the new Refer a friend program, seasoned players will have plenty of incentives to bring their friends into the fold. Epic’s new Refer A Friend program runs between now and January 10, 2023, with several unique cosmetics available for players to refer their friends and take on challenges with their new buddy. As Fortnite kicks off the quieter mid-season with players taking on new challenges and getting as much XP as possible for Fortnite‘s newest battle pass, now is a great time for players to bring in new friends to spice up their matches.
To participate in the Refer A Friend program, players must log on to the program’s dedicated website and log in with their Epic accounts to register as referrers. They can then invite new ones Fortnite friends by clicking Add a friend on the website and search for their friends’ account names. Referrers, in particular, are not limited to choosing friends who have only just created an account; some returning players are also eligible to become referees depending on their recent playing time in Fortnite. Both players can then start completing challenges by playing matches together.
There’s no shortage of new event missions and rewards in Fortnite to tackle together, but there are a few caveats that players should be aware of. Epic only counts players with “less than two hours of a Fortnite Battle Royale or Zero Build playlist (i.e. Solo, Duos, Trios, or Squads) in the last 30 days” as eligible to be an umpire. Additionally, completing the second challenge with a referee closes the rest of the challenges as well. This means that progress is only tracked for that referrer-referee pair until all challenges are completed. The referrer is then free to choose another suitable friend and go through the challenges again.
All the Challenges and Rewards of Fortnite’s Refer A Friend Program
There are a total of five challenges for players to complete, and each comes with a unique cosmetic that both players will receive. Like Fortnite‘s recent weekly missions, these five challenges range from simple missions that can be completed in a single match, to more difficult missions that must be completed over the course of one or more seasons.
- Connect by adding a referee: Double pull spray.
- Play 1 match in Fortnite with the referee: Immortal oasis cover.
- Place Top 10 six times with the referee: Oasis Wind Back Bling
- Eliminate 45 opponents together with the referee: Oasis wind pickaxe
- Reach 60 account levels and wait for the referee to reach 60 account levels: Xander Outfit with 2 styles.
Unfortunately, each challenge must be completed before the next is unlocked. Adding a friend and playing a match doesn’t take much effort, while finishing six times in the top 10 is easy enough as long as both players choose Fortnite‘s best landing spots. In fact, landing in a quiet place and waiting for the number of players to drop may be enough to get into the top 10. On the other hand, it’s challenging to land near other players early in the game and grab guns to take out opponents who are unlucky enough to get close. good way to quickly collect 45 eliminations.
The biggest challenge is undoubtedly for both players to reach 60 account levels. A player’s account level is essentially the total number of levels they have achieved through playing Fortnite across all seasons. This does not reset between seasons, so players can continue to level up for the rest of Chapter 3 Season 3, and in subsequent seasons. However, since it takes 80,000 XP to level up, players will still have to play many matches and a significant amount Fortnitechallenges and quests, including this season vibes quest.
