The PlayStation Store is constantly updated with new games, DLC and PlayStation Plus offers for players to explore. After the launch of the new tiered PlayStation Plus service, a strange glitch affected the user experience on the US PlayStation Store.
The new PS Plus service is available in three tiers: Essential, Extra and Premium. Essential is available for the same price as the original PS Plus service, which is $59.99 a year. All standard benefits are available at the Essential level, such as monthly games, access to online multiplayer, exclusive discounts, and cloud storage. The second tier of PS Plus, Extra, is available for $99.99 a year with a huge catalog of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games, including Ubisoft + Classics. At $119.99, Premium is the most expensive tier of PS Plus, with access to classic games from older-generation PlayStation consoles, cloud streaming, and game trials.
Reddit user OneTrueKingSlayer is a PS Plus subscriber who found a strange glitch in the PS5’s PS Store. When accessing IllFonic’s PS Store page Arcadegeddon, the text for the “Choose edit” option is displayed upside down. In addition to the flaw that affects the option, the entire store page for Arcadegeddon it’s completely normal for OneTrueKingSlayer. In fact, the “Download from Library” is displayed with the proper text directly below the failure.
The user jokingly refers to the glitch as the Australian version of Arcadegeddon since the text to choose PS4 or PS5 edition of the game is upside down. Additionally, Reddit users from Australia reacted to the PS Store user’s screenshot with more jokes and comments. Overall, the flaw doesn’t seem to affect any major functionality on the store page.
The PS Store top text glitch likely only affects a few PS5 users worldwide. Like most bugs and glitches, the PlayStation will likely resolve the glitch through an update on the PS Store or through firmware updates. Periodically, PlayStation releases new firmware updates to improve the overall PS5 experience, apply bug fixes, and introduce useful features. Fortunately, this particular glitch doesn’t seem to be at the level of damage that a game-breaking bug would do.
New games and experiences hit the PS Store every week, and more glitches may appear as PS Plus gets more games. Many improvements will be made to the PS5 over the next few years and new hardware will be introduced such as the PlayStation VR 2. New hardware tends to bring its own issues from the start, but PlayStation will work to ensure a stable and enjoyable experience for all gamers.
