Due to the drought of news about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, which got only two trailers in five months, fans are looking for information on the hottest topics, such as the starters, the battle gimmick and new shapes. It’s easy to find all sorts of alleged leaks online, from fake conceptual art of new Pokemon to multiple posts suggesting what the mechanics are in the games, but an insider has consistently shared real information. This is a leaker called Riddler Khu, who also revealed a lot about Pokemon Legends: Arceus prior to its release last January, and is now active for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet also.
Khu did share information about the type combinations of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s starters, with Sprigatito reportedly being Grass/Dark, Fuecoco Fire/Ghost and Quaxly Water/Fighting. However, fans also want to know what these Pokemon look like, and Khu now shared some hints about the themes and mid-stages of the starters after cropped photos of Sprigatito and Quaxly’s evolutions appeared online. In another tweet, Khu also finally revealed what the so-called “Regional Fakes” are.
Regional Fakes are seemingly Pokemon that have nearly identical facial features compared to existing critters, but they are completely different species that also have different types. This concept was first shared by Khu after the alleged leak of the regional form of Diglett, a huge Water-type Diglett with blue hues. In response to a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan discussing what the Regional Fakes could be, Khu said there’s an eel Pokemon that acts like Diglett and even has his face, but it’s a separate species with its own Pokedex number.
Another alleged leak from Khu details the mid-stage evolution of Fuecoco and shares the themes behind the evolutions for Sprigatito and Quaxly. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will seemingly evolve Fuecoco into a crocodile with a flaming egg on its head, which matches Khu’s description of Fuecoco’s latest evolution with a chicken on its head in recent weeks. As for Sprigatito, the evolution of the Grass-type cat will have a mask on its face, and it will look a bit like a thief, while Quaxly embodies the themes of dancing and the peacock – which probably means his tail will get bigger when it evolves.
A recent leak also confirmed that: Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will have DLC just like Pokemon Sword and Shield, and this can add to the Regional Fakes by introducing even more of these Pokemon. As for the starters, the official images will likely appear online much closer to the release date, meaning players shouldn’t expect them before October at the very least.
Pokemon Scarlet and purple release for Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022.
