Following fan concerns about the content of the Lollipop Chainsaw remake, Yoshimi Yasuda speaks about what fans can expect from the remake.
After a series of teases from original director Yoshimi Yasuda, a full remake of Lollipop Chainsaw was announced to arrive sometime in 2023 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the title. While the announcement has garnered much praise for the game's unavailability in recent years, Yasuda found himself needing to allay fans' concerns regarding questionable information coming out about the game's condition. Lollipop Chainsaw redo.
After the announcement of the remake, it became clear that a few important things would change. Notably, James Gunn, who served as the writer of the original, and Goichi "Suda51" Suda would tweet that they would not be participating in the remake. The original version of the game also contained a lot of licensed songs, and a lot like Sonic Origins having to change it sonic 3 soundtrack, the remake will take a similar approach to its music.
Yasuda took note of all the concerns from fans and took to Twitter to calm the storm. In a statement, he mentions that the team behind the original title chose to make a remake Lollipop Chainsaw rather than creating a new game as the title is stuck on seventh generation consoles without the ability for gamers to play it. Yasuda also mentions that the story won't be changed in any way, and the studio's realistic approach to the graphics won't mess with Juliet Starling's design at all. The studio is solely focused on taking advantage of the current generation of hardware to make the game look better.
The art of recreating and remastering titles has served as a double-edged sword in the gaming industry. Some remasters have done wonders to breathe new life into titles, while others have caused some controversy, such as the upcoming remake of The last of us part 1† Yasuda's words should be an encouraging sign to fans of the game, as he emphasizes that the team wants to maintain the core identity of the game while delivering a product that every gamer can enjoy and that is readily available.
Conversely, Yasuda doesn't address concerns about Gunn and Suda51's lack of involvement in the remake. In addition, some fans are also concerned about the possible censorship that the game will face. Despite the poor reception Lollipop Chainsaw received in 2012, it developed a huge cult following, and one misstep on the remake could spell disaster for any possible future the title might have.
Lollipop Chainsaw will start in 2023.
