After months of speculation and fears that it would eventually be delayed, the hype train for God of War Ragnarok is now well under way. Recently, Sony unveiled the release date for God of War Ragnarok alongside showing what each edition of the game will come with. As well as the standard physical and digital versions, players wanting a few extra physical and in-game items when they begin their journey in God of War Ragnarok were excited to see the detailed Digital Deluxe, Collector's, and Jotnar Editions of the game.

The Collector's and Jotnar Editions of God of War Ragnarok were clearly the two versions of the game that came with the most extra content. As well as featuring the game's soundtrack and the Darkdale armor sets for Kratos and Atreus, the Collector's and Jotnar Editions come with a 16" Mjolnir replica hammer, a dwarven dice set, and 2" Vanir Twins Carvings. Of course, as the more expensive edition, the Jotnar version has more extras on top of that, including a 7-inch vinyl record, a pin set, a ring, cloth map, and dice set.

Given all the additional content and physical extras, besides a physical disk of the game in the Ragnarok Collector's and Jotnar Editions, it was clear these versions would sell out fast. Sony even gave the upcoming title a pre-order date so that fans could ready themselves to add their desired edition to their basket. However, the Jotnar and Collector's Editions of God of War Ragnarok have already been wiped clean from many retailers and are being listed by scalpers online.

UK gaming retailer GAME reported that the Jotnar Edition sold out within a few minutes, while the Collector's Edition managed to last an hour online. Some fans sadly reported that even as they reached the website in time to buy God of War Ragnarok, they were unable to get their desired edition as it had sold out before checkout. Already, the more expensive editions are being sold online for ridiculous prices by scalpers, with some offering the Jotnar Edition for £600 which is equivalent to around $710 USD. As well, the Collector's Edition is reportedly being listed for over $300.

Of course, it was expected that the Jotnar and Collector's Editions of God of War Ragnarok would sell out fast, but fans will likely be frustrated to find that rather than people purchasing the game who will actually enjoy it, these extras are going to those just trying to make a profit. Gamers have struggled with scalping for some time, with PS5s still being hard to find due to scalpers buying them in bulk. Sony has tried to stop PS5 scalpers in Japan, but it seems the company was not prepared for scalpers to buy up copies of the Jotnar and Collector's Editions for God of War Ragnarok.

God of War Ragnarok is set to release November 9, 2022, for PS4 and PS5.
