An Elden Ring fan shares an impressive compilation of headshots they successfully landed against other players using a bow and arrow in PvP.
Elden Ring offers a massive amount of depth and variety in its combat systems. Players can use different types of weapons and spells to take out their foes, and the sheer number of armaments available in Elden Ring can get overwhelming. Since its launch, many players have figured out interesting ways of combining a weapon’s unique animations with Ashes of War to defeat their opponents, but some are naturally more popular than others.
Bleed weapons and some overpowered spells seemingly dominate the PvP experience in Elden Ring, resulting in many users repeatedly running into opponents using the same tactics. These strategies are relatively easy to use and extremely effective when playing against others. However, every tactic appears to be viable in Elden Ring, as one user recently uploaded a video showing that bows can be the new meta in the right hands.
A user named Nox_Huntress shared an impressive compilation of them hitting other players with headshots using a bow. The headshot is the killing blow in some cases, while other hits take place in the middle of the fight. Nox_Huntress primarily uses jump attacks to make sure the arrows hit the head, while also utilizing the Rain of Arrows Ash of War at times. Each headshot is accompanied by a distinct sound effect and it even interrupts the opponent’s attack. Coincidentally, Nox_Huntress is the same individual who discovered a unique PvP animation after nailing a headshot in Elden Ring.
Nox_Huntress shares their build later in the comments, confirming that they use the Black Bow for its moveset, with the Stormwing Bone Arrows for their high physical and poise damage. Additionally, these arrows have better range and deal more stamina damage to players who are blocking. In terms of stats, Nox_Huntress is at level 150 with 44 Strength and 55 Dexterity. They later list out other good Elden Ring bows in their inventory that they can quickly switch to depending upon the situation.
The poster makes note of the harsh learning curve and mentions practicing this tactic for hundreds of hours. They state that they can track the enemy’s head during an animation, similar to how users keep an eye on the enemy’s weapon to time a parry attack. The Crucible Knot Talisman, which reduces the damage of headshots, would have proved useful in this scenario, but players are unlikely to use it over other Elden Ring Talismans that fit their builds.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
