The Callisto Protocolbeing led by former dead space co-creator Glen Schofield, is an upcoming survival horror title that many fans of the genre have their eyes on. Some even believe that The Callisto Protocol it is a dead space remake on the way, these titles could lay the groundwork for the future of horror games. From what players have seen so far The Callisto Protocolthe game looks promising, based on the gory body horror created by dead space for a more intense and violent experience.

In each game trailer for The Callisto Protocolfans have seen how the Striking Distance Studios team is building the foundation laid by dead space, as it seeks to give the player a more bloody and horrible experience. Creatures with a similar level of body horror as dead space Necromorphs have been seen, except at a much more visceral level of detail. Bones, muscle tendons and more can be seen emerging from the roving horrors in Black Iron, the setting of The Callisto Protocol.

Some of these creatures featured in new gameplay clips from The Callisto Protocol that were recently discovered. The footage comes from an interview with Glen Schofield, where the director talks about The Callisto Protocol origin and how the game came to be what it is today. In between footage of Schofield speaking, fans saw some clips they had never seen before, showcasing the intense horror the new game will bring through combat and atmospheric environments.


The first new moment fans see shows the player being suddenly attacked by a creature and having to fight for his life. The creature immediately starts punching the player’s helmet, again confirming that The Callisto Protocol is not afraid to brutalize its protagonist. More violence is shown when the player takes a shotgun towards the attacker. Although there are elements of shooting in The Callisto Protocolrecent gameplay states that this will not be a third-person shooter, as it takes more than a few rounds to take down a creature, implying that should the player come across more than one enemy, they are likely looking at a bloody death.


a portion of The Callisto Protocol melee combat was shown in another clip where again a creature attacked the player out of nowhere. Hand-to-hand combat is a central focus in The Callisto Protocol, differentiating it from other titles of the genre. Schofield also revealed in his interview that something that sets his new title apart is the primary focus on quality. With The Callisto ProtocolSchofield said the goal is “to make the best game possible. We’re going to try to hit all our pillars of the game. It should be scary, tense – everything we set out to do.”

The Callisto Protocol will be released on December 2, 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
