The world of farming simulators is getting bigger and bigger as more and more games are added to this genre. Wylde Flowers is a story-rich game where the developers have ensured that you have a cozy, therapeutic experience throughout the gameplay.
From the start you play as Tara and get off the boat and meet the people of Fairhaven Town after a long time. You’re back in town because your grandmother, Hazel, isn’t doing well. During your stay you will learn several new things about yourself.
Every store has a different schedule
When it comes to farming simulators, one of the most annoying aspects that make the game less fun is to remember the schedule of each store. Some stores close earlier than usual while some owners choose one of the weekdays as a day off.
The developers of Wylde Flowers have made sure that this does not affect their player base. Every store has a sign outside on which the entire weekly schedule is written. That’s how you decide easily which part of the game you want to prioritize.
you can’t enter houses other than yours at first of this game, which means the only time you can interact with other city members is when they are in their shop, or when they are walking around. You can use this schedule to have a guaranteed time to talk to them.
The manual can be very useful
It is very common for games like Wylde Flowers to have a handbook for their players. Unlike other games, you will unlocked this book from the beginning. You can click on the icon in the top right corner of your screen to access, or press the key shown below if you are playing on a keyboard or controller.
The journal can be a very useful tool, and here’s everything it tells you:
- The first tab lists all the missions you currently have. There is one for every quest option to show a hint that will tell you what to do, in case you forgot. It will also be a exclamation mark as you progress in a quest.
- The second tab will show the names of all people you met in the city and the cat! This will also list the number of hearts you have on each of them, and these can be increased by different methods.
- The third tab that is automatically unlocked at the beginning is the Crafts Tab. As you can see, this will label every craft item you’ve discovered and what it takes to make them. This may come in handy, because you can access to the magazine anywhere and find out what you’re missing.
- Later more tabs like Cooking and fishing will be unlocked in the journal, where you can keep an eye on your recipes and the fish. This is great for finding the necessary ingredients, or for catching any fish if you are a completeist.
The only problem with the magazine right now is that it does not reflect the amount of energy you can recover of each recipe. While you can see this if you have the food in your inventory, it is would be a blessing to be able to see it before you cook it.
You can jump fences
There must have been so many times that you had to enter places next to each other, but there is a long fence in between, and it gets frustrating to go all the way around. Fortunately, in a funny way, this problem has been partially solved for this game.
When you click directly on one of the small white fences, Tara will jump right over it with a funny animation. Although this doesn’t really make sense and maybe a little immersion-breaking, the amount of time it saves makes it worth it. If you don’t want this, you can still go all the way around.
Bulletin requests are unlocked from the start
As mentioned above, the game assumes his players know the basics of agricultural simulators. This is a good thing to some extent, but sometimes it assumes too much. There is a bulletin board that is already in Fairhaven Townbut the game doesn’t tell you anything about it.
You can find this sign on the left side of the mayor’s building in the center of the town. Fortunately, you don’t have to complete the request you get from the board the same day, and they stay for a few days.
There are many options for quality of life
The game takes the fun aspect of farming simulator to the next level. At any time during your run you can simply press the pause button next to the day HUD top left and access some quality of life settings to make your game easier and the experience better.
The main option here is the Day speed. In this setting you have three speeds at which your day goes by. If you don’t have much to do you can make it faster. And if you plan to do a lot that day, you can have it more relaxed.
Other than that, there are also some options to make fishing easier. This mechanic is already quite easy, so you might not even notice the difference after you turn on the setting unless you want to fish for a particular rare fish.
There is no limit to your inventory
You must have played a lot of games that claim to be cozy, but the limitation of inventory in these games can make it bad stressful and annoying. Fortunately it is not the same for Wylde Flowers as there is no visible stock limit here.
This feature makes the game really relaxed, and all you need to worry about is the manage your energy.
you will have very less energy at the beginning of the gameand if you don’t have enough food items to regenerate much of it, the decision to devote your energy to a particular task becomes very important.
The dialogues are pretty fast
While this may not be a problem for most, it is may surprise you at first. Usually the voice acting games have slow dialogues and there is a small gap after each dialogue. Neither applies to Wylde Flowerswhich can also ruin the immersion.
If there is a large movie with a lot of dialogue, this problem is much more noticeable. The dialogue will be interrupted if you remove the game from your screen for any reason. In addition, the game saves automatically, which means that: it starts where you left offinstead of having you start at the beginning of the day.
You can pet the cat
This last tip completes the game better than any competitor out there. There is a Strange Cat in Fairhaven Town, and you can pet him when you get close by hitting the option that appears on top of the animal.
