10/10 Fruit Ball – Kingdom Hearts: Birth Through Sleep

Fruit Ball is Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep’s version of volleyball, except it’s done with a Keyblade and is much more chaotic than the actual sport expected from the video game iteration of the game. Different fruits are constantly thrown into the field that players have to get into the goal post. This is easier said than done, as there are inexperienced or different opponents throwing the fruit back to the player’s playing field.

The game is very energetic and has many moments that make players get up from their seats and cheer when they score a lucky shot or unlock a new high score.

9/10 Rumble Racing – Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep

Rumble racing is like throwing parts of Mario Kart into the Kingdom Hearts world, and it’s a lot of fun. Players use their various Keyblade Gliders to race through a track located in both Disney Town and the Mirage arena. Players will have to navigate past enemies who come as different racers.

Players can use different skills and boosters during the race to try to take first place. It is a game where players don’t mind getting a high score.

8/10 Flick Rush – Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance

Flick Rush in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance feels like a much more interactive version of Pokémon. The battles feel like they are happening in real time as big Dream Eaters go head to head. The game also corrects on a card system that allows for many interesting combinations and sees which combination of cards works best on the opponents.

Flick Rush is a lot of fun to master, but as players try to do each cup towards the end of the game and unlock enough points to get the secret cup, it can seem like too much work to be done.

7/10 Light Cycle – Kingdom Hearts 2

The Light Cycle mini-game in Kingdom Hearts 2 is actually an essential part of the story and is needed to progress through the game. This is one of the more challenging minigames, especially in Critical mode, as the course’s maze-like structure gets tighter and a lot harder as the run progresses.

There are many obstacles that will pose as giant pillars and Heartless will try to ruin the player’s run. The fast tempo feel and use of the light cycle feels like it belongs in this game.

6/10 The Magic Carpet – Kingdom Hearts 2

The Magic Carpet minigame set in Kingdom Hearts 2 feels like a cross between a rail shooter and a simple bullet hell. Players are on a set path that travels through the ruins of Agrabah as Heartless attacks them and as buildings begin to collapse on the player. Players have to dodge various obstacles while trying to kill as many Heartless as possible.

As the players progress, the track becomes more dangerous with sand bursting out of the ground trying to hit the player. It’s a nice addition to the game that has some great replay value a few times.

5/10 Musicals – Kingdom Hearts 2

The musicals in Kingdom Hearts 2 may have been the inspiration for Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory. If only the songs in that game were as visually interesting to play through as this one. The way the musicals work is quite simple as players have to click the buttons at the right time to hit the notes and sometimes mash the button to get a better combo.

The gameplay isn’t anything grand compared to some of the games on this list, but the simple nature does the trick and makes Atlantica infinitely better than what it had offered in the first game.

4/10 Honey Slider – Kingdom Hearts 2

In this mini-game, Sora and Winnie the Pooh glide through the wonderful world of 100 hectares of forest and try to collect honey balls for Pooh. The setting is striking as players move from a forest to the pages of a book to a snowy mountainous area. The path is treacherous as it will have obstacles that will cause if the players hit it they will lose one of their 10 life points.

The mini-game is riddled with danger and while it may seem impossible, the game is also extremely fair as players can collect all the honey orbs without getting hit even once.

3/10 Classic Kingdom: Barnyard Battle – Kingdom Hearts 3

The classic kingdom game can range from very fun to absolutely terrible. The good thing is that Kingdom Hearts 3’s Barnyard Battle is one that players will feel great about as they try to get the highest score possible for whatever reason. The game play is simple, as only four buttons need to be pressed for Mickey and Sora to hit enemies on the head and stop them from passing.

The game is getting faster and faster and a lot more enemies are thrown at the player which can make it really chaotic.

2/10 Verum Rex: Beat Of Lead – Kingdom Hearts 3

They have put a fully working mecha arcade minigame in Kingdom Hearts 3. If that statement doesn’t sound overly ambitious, then who knows what it really is, as it’s a bit baffling for long-time fans of the series to see this. Yes, the combat could have been a little faster as the flying feels a bit slow and the mechs can feel too heavy at times, but that doesn’t stop it from being a cool addition to the game.

The level has a lot of interactivity for its short duration and it can be difficult to get a high score, but it never feels too out of place or boring as players get the hang of things quickly.

1/10 Training Toys – Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance

Training toys are toys that players unlock during their journey and allow them to play mini-games with their Droometers. Playing the minigames with the Dream Eaters will level them up and boost their stats. The games feel like mini games in the pet simulator mini game that the game has which is why they are the best.

These mini-games allow players to spend a lot more time with their Droometers by taking on challenges that build a much stronger relationship with the player’s pets. It’s a fun way to make players feel attached to their Dream Eaters and make it a sad moment when they have to take one out when they unlock a better one.
