no. 3 Ohio State hosts Arkansas State on Saturday, September 10. The game will be streamed live on DirecTV Stream (free trial) and fuboTV (livestream).

After an exciting season opening win over now-No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 3 Ohio State has another challenge: Get pumped to play against a big underdog in Week 2.

The Buckeyes took a heart-pounding 21-10 victory over the Irish on Saturday night in front of a TV audience of 10.5 million.

But this week, the state of Ohio must be careful not to fall into last season’s habit of looking past some teams, quarterback CJ Stroud said.

The Red Wolves of Jonesboro, Arkansas, feel good about themselves after wiping out FCS squad Grambling State in last week’s opener, even if they are a six-touchdown underdog according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

When is Ohio State-Arkansas State?

Example

SMITH-NJIGBA Doubtful: Ohio State coach Ryan Day wasn’t going to talk much this week about the health of star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who left the game at Notre Dame early with a leg injury and only came back for a few games after that.

Stroud later said Smith-Njigba hurt one of his hamstrings, and not seriously. But it is not clear whether the receiver will be ready to play on Saturday.

In other injury news, Day said injured receiver Julian Fleming may return for Saturday’s game, and although starting center Luke Wypler left last week’s game in a walking boot, he is expected to be fine.

FULL CIRCLE: Champ Flemings’ first game as a freshman receiver at Oregon State in 2018 was at Ohio Stadium — a 77-31 loss to the Buckeyes. The 5 feet 5 and 142 pounds Flemings are now in their fifth year after moving to the state of Arkansas.

And it just so happens that he comes back to Columbus. It’s not a big deal for him.

“The football field is 120 meters long, wherever you want to put it,” he said.

WALK IT ON: Quarterback James Blackman threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores in Arkansas State’s 58-3 win over Grambling. Blackman is in his sixth year of college football and transfers to Jonesboro after four seasons at Florida State.

Johnnie Lang, another sixth-year player who played four years in the state of Iowa, rushed for 124 yards and a TD last week. Flemings had seven catches for 122 yards and a score.

HE SAID IT: “The game has been played from the week before, no matter what happens, good, bad or indifferent, because we have to move on, because nothing we did last week matters,” Day said. “And that goes back to that term ‘competitive stamina’. Can we bring it every week?”
