Little Nightmares available on PlayStation Plus is great for introducing a lot of people to a cult classic. This horror platformer is both cute and terrifying, with great puzzles to boot. It’s a great game, but it’s a very short game, and you might be looking for more after that.

It can take about six hours to fully complete Little Nightmares from start to finish. After you’ve beaten the game, you may be wondering what else is out there for your newfound interest. Fortunately, DLC is available for purchase for the game. You can get add-ons that give Six a new wardrobe, as well as DLC that adds extra gameplay and levels to the base game.

3 The depths

The first DLC released for Little Nightmares in 2017 introduces you to a brand new character, the Runaway Kid. In The Depths you traverse the darkest depths of The Maw. It is uncharted territory for the young inmates and you will discover new areas that play on thalassophobia, the fear of deep and threatening bodies of water. There’s also a whole new monster that you’ll have to face.

The Depths is known for being tedious and of little value, due to puzzle after puzzle for a new boss. Little new information is revealed in this DLC about Six and The Maw, but if you’re looking for extra playtime for a great platformer that still has a great atmosphere, check this one out. It counts towards the game’s many achievements as this DLC includes another type of collectible known as Flotsam. The gameplay and story itself aren’t terribly engaging, but it’s still the same creepy platformer we know and love.

This next Little Nightmares DLC continues the story of the Runaway Kid, but features a fan favorite: the Nomes. Instead of exploring the dark and rugged parts of The Maw, learn about the curious little creatures. The soundtrack is upbeat and curious, a perfect fit for the Nomes. It’s a cute co-op experience.

After you’ve completed the base game Little Nightmares, you may be wondering what the Nomes are, how they don’t get eaten, and where they hide. The Hideaway reveals everything and you can create co-op puzzles with the help of your little Nomes. They will follow you and eventually help you to reach the end of the game. In the DLC you can find out what their purpose is and what the ecosystem of Nomes is like.

There’s also a returning boss that you’ve seen before. At the end of The Hideaway DLC, a huge story plot will be revealed to the player. Most of Little Nightmares’ story is open to interpretation as nothing in the game speaks out loud and it ends up being a vague story. The Hideaway answers one of your many questions about The Maw.

1 The residence

The most recent Little Nightmares DLC pack, originally released in 2018, is arguably the best DLC of them all. If you continue as the Runaway Kid, you are now trapped in The Lady’s quarters. You’ll have come across a bit of this area towards the end of the base game, but now you’ll be digging into The Lady’s dirty laundry and what her motivations are.

There are some great, challenging puzzles in this DLC, as well as secret locations that you can discover if you’re smart enough to find them. New enemies can also be found, which will test your resolve, and right at the very end of this DLC, the series’ biggest secret (and ‘wow’ moment) is revealed. It will surely shock you! Reviews alone are enough to convince you that The Residence DLC for Little Nightmares is the best in the franchise and an absolute must-play to understand the story and universe a little better.
