Ubisoft hasn’t released the official patch notes yet, but here’s the list of new content coming in with today’s patch from our early hands-on time with the title update.
NEW PERMANENT CARD: STADIUM 2021
After a workshop and discussions with the pro teams, Stadium 2021 will be added to the map pool. However, you will see this card under a different name: ‘Stadium Bravo’.
Stadium Bravo is a combination of Border and Coastline. The well-balanced sites and features are color-coded and less cluttered, making it feel different yet familiar.
GIFT A BATTLE PASS
Starting this season, Rainbow Six Siege players will be able to purchase the Battle Pass for their friends to join! The same Battle Pass you buy for yourself can now be purchased and given to friends through Ubisoft Connect, whether it’s the Premium Battle Pass for 1200 R6 Credits or the Premium Battle Pass Bundle for 2670 R6 Credits. Owners will receive a 10% discount on all retail purchases, such as weapon skins or bundles, for the duration of that Battle Pass.
Players must be friends through Ubisoft Connect for more than 90 days and use the same platform to gift each other a Battle Pass. Examples include PC players giving gifts to other PC friends, while Sony PS4 players can only give to PS4 and PS5 friends. There’s no region lock, on the other hand, so there’s no better time to work on your team skills, regardless of distance.
NEW OPERATOR: GRIM
This season introduces an all-new operator by the name of Grim. The team describes him as an aggressive attacker who has a utility that shoots canisters of bees that follow the players. You can read the full character overview here: Rainbow Six Siege Operator Grim Abilities overview and gameplay
NEW GADGET: IMPACT EMP GRENADE
This season we’re adding the Impact EMP Grenade, a new throwable gadget that explodes on impact to deactivate nearby electronic devices for a short period of time.
You can find it as a third gadget option for these operators:
- blackbeard
- Montagne
- dokkaebi
- nokk
- grid lock
- sled
- Lion
- osa
WEAPON BLOWBACK
NEW KICKBACK SYSTEM (PC)
We’ve overhauled the recoil system with the goal of making weapons recoil more meaningful. In this new system:
- Vertical recoil is rated on all weapons and adjusted to the weapon’s expected power level.
- The intensity of the vertical and horizontal recoil increases during sustained fire eruptions. The longer the burst, the stronger the recoil.
- The limits for weapons with a strong recoil have largely remained the same.
- LMGs and weapons with high capacity magazines now have a 4th stage of recoil which is more difficult to control.
- Weapons have more mounting options. This feature is available for both console and PC.
RECORD CHANGES (CONSOLE)
Kickback on console now works differently compared to PC.
In the past, console recoil was adjusted based on PC values and adjusted for console. This approach allows the console’s recoil values to be adjusted separately from the PC, allowing us to focus more precisely on the needs of the console.
PLAYER PROTECTION
REPUTATION PENALTY: FINAL TEXT CHAT
Last season we introduced reputation penalties by adding a penalty for abusive friendly fire, and this season we are introducing a new penalty for offensive text chat. This penalty is active, but mutes repeat offenders by default to prevent hateful and abusive content in text chat. Muted players can still send and receive messages in text chat, but their messages will only be seen by players who choose to unmute.
The penalty for abusive text chat will become active later in Season 3 instead of during the season release. When released:
- All players will be given a grace period to allow them to adapt to the new system.
- After the grace period is over, players who send too many hateful or abusive text chats will receive an active penalty of 30 matches.
REPORT CHEATERS IN MATCH REPLAY
We’ve added a new way to report cheaters in Match Replay. Now you can report a player if you were unable to do so during a match or if you discover someone cheating while viewing footage from your last matches.
PLAYER COMFORT
CARD PROHIBITION CHANGES
We’ve changed the card ban phase to now show 5 cards instead of 3. This will increase card diversity while preserving the player’s authority to remove certain cards from the pool.
TACTICAL MAP CHANGES
We’ve updated the tactical map to give attackers more critical information and help them make more informed decisions during the preparation phase.
Attackers can now see a list of available Defender target locations.
The map and target locations are displayed when discovered by the attacking team.
DRIVERS PRICE REDUCED
Like every season, Operation Brutal Swarm will bring a price reduction for specific operators. Amaru and Goyo drop to 10,000 fame or 240 R6 credits, Zero changes to 15,000 fame or 360 R6 credits and Osa now costs 20,000 fame or 480 R6 credits. Now is the perfect time to add operators to your roster and test them out.
SEASON WEAPON SKIN
Operation Brutal Swarm comes with some gritty new additions to your coat of arms collection. Getting the Torrid Jungle Bundle will unlock the Weathered Partner weapon skin and attachments, as well as the Smelly Durian charm. The weapon skin will be released at the launch of Operation Brutal Swarm and will be on sale throughout the season. Once unlocked, it will remain in your inventory indefinitely and can be applied to all available weapons.
There you have it, the full rundown of what’s coming to R6 this season. We’ll have some additional information as we get closer to the launch date, so keep an eye out for that, including the full patch notes for Rainbow Six Siege Y7S3.
We’ll be posting the official patch notes as they become available, so please sit back and refresh this post from time to time.
