Given the overwhelming magnitude of the Star Wars IP, some find it absurd how much attention is constantly given to the Skywalker family and their nostalgic oversaturation. Star Wars has different races and characters between equally diverse planets in its science fiction, but it seems like a new Star Wars every moment. episode arrives, you can’t help but include an Easter egg, reference, or cameo to iconic characters that the IP casts out like a safety net.
Andoro is an example of a spin-off that seems to be taking a big risk by delving deeper into a lesser-known character, but is likely to be much richer and more intriguing as a result. The Disney Plus prequel series follows Cassian Andor, a Rebel spy who was introduced in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Andoro is just one of many Rogue One stories worth telling, so now is the perfect time for Rogue One to receive another modification in games.
Rogue One is a Star Wars spin-off with great game potential
Rogue One is the most concise Star Wars story about the rebellion vs the empire as it revolves around a group of unseemly and unknown characters. Their plight seems hopeless and while fans may already suspect what their fate will be, it still creates a semblance of suspense and triumph. These otherwise trivial characters are responsible for the destruction of the first Death Star.
Rogue One submits to nostalgic cameos, such as a CGI’d Grand Moff Tarkin and Leia Organa, as well as an action sequence with Darth Vader that leads directly into the events of A new hope. However, the intimate and humorous moments shared between new characters in Rogue One captivates its charm and authenticity. Characters like Jyn Erso, Galen Erso, Cassian Andor, Chirrut Imwe, Baze Malbus or Bodhi Rook are all interesting individuals who could all have had a unique spin-off.
Moreover, Rogue One‘s specific time period is interesting, as it is between Revenge of the Sith and A new hope, where the rebels are lowest and struggle to survive under Imperial rule. This era has been depicted many times before, with characters from Rogue One now popped up in other Star Wars media. This is how Saw Gerrera first appeared in the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars series, but Forest Whittaker’s live-action Saw has now appeared in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order ever since.
Similarly, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order features Imperial KX series security droids that appear as enemies, and in Rogue Onefans meet one called K-2SO who has been reprogrammed and loyal to the rebels. Rogue One does not have its own game and there is currently no news about a Andoro game in the making.
It is currently unlikely that Rogue One would receive an immediate adaptation, as its own popularity seems to have faded after its release. But AndoroThe Disney Plus series shows that there may still be characters or stories to be rescued, and the result could be games in Star Wars‘ future.
In Honor of Star Wars Battlefront’s Rogue One DLC
Star Wars Eclipse seems to be just about furthest away from a Andoro or Rogue One adjustment, but there’s still a possibility that either the open world of Ubisoft Massive Star Wars game of Respawn’s FPS Star Wars could be game. Even though it doesn’t directly adapt Jyn or Cassian’s stories, there are opportunities to share untold stories through unknown characters in that same era.
Rogue One was clearly influential, but it is important to note that Rogue One has already received a really faithful adaptation beforehand, and trying to dethrone it would be a daunting task. The spin-off film was celebrated in the Star Wars Battlefront remake, which introduced it in the DLC expansion Rogue One: Scarif.
The DLC brought characters Jyn Erso and director Orson Krennic as heroes and villains, respectively, with their own unique abilities and weaponry. Scarif, a tropical island planet, was also introduced in the DLC, laying the foundation for four separate maps in it, as well as an exclusive game mode called Infiltration.
Shoretroopers were an obvious cosmetic addition to Star Wars Battlefrontwhich also featured the PlayStation VR exclusive Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission. Therefore, Rogue One and the primary story and characters may have already been bugged. Instead, an adaptation of the same events could, for example, show fans the perspective of other characters, or provide a backstory for Chirrut and Baze. Rogue One happy lends itself to essentially any genre in games, and so its potential is infinite.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga May Receive Andor DLC
The most likely Rogue One game adaptation coming in the near future would be sort of hookup for Andoro. If there is a Star Wars Battlefront game currently being developed live service may have come this far, but in the absence of such a game it seems clear which game would have the task of Andoro amendment.
Indeed, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has the most likely chance of filling this void, especially after its own post-launch DLC has introduced content from Rogue One as well as Disney Plus’ The Mandalorian and others. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was already a giant game before this content, collecting almost all the groundbreaking Star Wars available media, and a Character Pack for Andoro next Rogue One would be a good choice.
Star Wars is expected to announce more gaming news this Friday at the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase, and it would be the perfect opportunity for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga to reveal Andoro as the latest DLC ahead of the show’s launch later this month. If not TT Games, Ubisoft or Respawn could be there to share their own news. Anyway, if there ever was a time to Andoro or Rogue One tie-in, this showcase would be the right time to do that.
