The NBA 2K23 release date has arrived and we expect Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch owners to encounter several issues at launch.
NBA 2K23 releases tonight for current-gen consoles and Windows PC. The game unlocks at 12:00 Eastern, meaning those in Western time zones can start playing at 9:00 pm.
Every time 2K releases a new version of NBA 2K, we hear about server issues, performance issues, and bugs. Some are minor annoyances, others are much more frustrating and can ruin your experience.
We don’t have a full list of NBA 2K23 issues yet, but we expect to see some familiar faces as we move away from the game’s release date.
While some issues can be resolved in minutes, others can be much more difficult to resolve. Some issues are likely to require a 2K fix and we expect the developer to roll out a steady stream of bug fix updates in the coming weeks.
With that in mind, we want to walk you through some of the most common NBA 2K23 problems and show you how to fix them so you can get back into the game.
How To Fix NBA 2K23 Face Scan Issues
Like the previous versions of the game, NBA 2K23 lets you scan your face into the game so you can really play as yourself. And just like the previous versions of the game, people will struggle to get their face scanned properly.
To scan your face in the game, you need to download the MyNBA2K23 app for iPhone, iPad or Android. Once you have downloaded the app, make sure your MyPLAYER account is connected to both NBA 2K23 and MyNBA2K23.
If you’re having trouble scanning your face properly in-game, here are a few things to keep in mind.
If you’re scanning your face, make sure you’re well-lit with no shadows. Shadows tend to mess up the scan.
Also make sure to keep your device at eye level. Holding it too high or too low can mess up your scan. 2K recommends holding the phone about 18″ from your face.
Once the scan begins, make sure to slowly turn your head up to a maximum of 45 degrees while looking forward.
Fix NBA 2K23 Download Issues
If you’re playing on Xbox or PlayStation, NBA 2K23 requires a huge download and can take quite some time to complete.
We expect download times to improve as the rush to play subsides, but there are some things you can try if the download is taking too long or if it crashes.
If your NBA 2K23 download freezes halfway through the process, try pausing it, waiting a few seconds, and restarting it. If that doesn’t work, cancel the download and try again.
If the download speed is abnormally slow, you can try connecting your Ethernet cable directly to your console or Windows PC. This can speed up the download, especially if your system is far from your router.
If none of that works, you should try restarting your router. Unplug your router, wait a minute or two, and plug it back in.

Fix NBA 2K23 installation issues
Storage issues can sometimes prevent games from installing properly. If you are having trouble installing NBA 2K23, make sure it’s not storage related.
If you have an Xbox, go to the My games & apps section and check how much storage space you have on your internal/external hard drives.
If you’re playing NBA 2K23 on a PlayStation, go to your console’s settings and check how much free space you have left.
If you’re sure you have enough space, but the game still won’t install properly, you should try resetting your console.
Fix connection issues with NBA 2K23
If you can’t connect to NBA 2K23’s servers, make sure they don’t have any issues. You want to check 2K’s Official Social Media Accounts for announcements and DownDetector for complaints from other 2K players.
There is also a chance that your issues are related to Xbox Live issues, PlayStation Network outages, or technical issues.

How To Fix NBA 2K23 Freezing Issues
If your game suddenly freezes between events, during a cutscene, or during any other part of the game, you’ll want to save (if you can) and go to the dashboard. If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to restart your console or PC.
How To Fix NBA 2K23 Performance Issues
If you’re playing NBA 2K23 on a PC and are experiencing performance issues (poor frame rate, graphics, etc.), make sure your installation meets the game’s minimum and/or recommended requirements.
If you don’t meet the minimum requirements, you’ve got your answer. If you don’t meet the recommended requirements, you probably need to adjust your settings.

If you are playing NBA 2K23 on a console and experiencing performance issues, we recommend restarting the game and/or console.
How To Fix NBA 2K23 Missing VC
If you’re missing VC (2K’s in-game currency), please note that it can sometimes take a few hours for purchased VC to show up in your account. If you’ve been waiting and it’s still not there, you’ll need to file a ticket with 2K to get it fixed.
