NASCAR 21: Ignition's Free 2022 Expansion Coming October 6

The 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season is coming to NASCAR 21: Ignition for free, including the NEXT Gen cars, drivers, liveries, and tracks.

The 2022 season update for NASCAR 21: Ignition officially has a release date (October 6, 2022) according to an announcement by Motorsport Games on Wednesday (September 21, 2022).

The free update brings the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series season into the 2021 title for everyone who owns the game.

Season update 2022, car and tracks

NASCAR 21: Ignition’s 2022 Season Update features the real 2022 NASCAR Cup Series roster of drivers, teams, and paint schemes on the new 2022 car, the NASCAR NEXT Gen. Today’s car models will be listed for the Chevy, Ford and Toyota alike.

The trailer briefly shows clips at all of the new locations – Atlanta’s reconfiguration, plus Auto Club and World Wide Technology Raceway.

User interface, HUD and price changes

There will also be out-of-season updates to the game for the game. Some of these changes include “redesigned UI elements,” an “upgraded HUD” that will have “all-new tire wear and fuel indicators,” and there will be new lines of dialogue for MRN’s Alex Hayden intro scenes.

The bottom right corner shows the new tires and fuel gauges coming in the October 6 update.

Meanwhile, the base price for NASCAR 21: Ignition will drop in price to $19.99, well below its original market value, which was $59.99 at launch. Prior to the publication of this article, the standard edition of NASCAR 21: Ignition sold for $44.99 on Steam and $29.99 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

There will also be a NASCAR 21: Ignition Victory Edition that will include the 2022 expansion, the previous 2021 Season Pass ($29.99 separately), and the 2022 DLC content in a future Season Pass 2.

It was confirmed to Traxion.GG by Astrsk PR that the Victory Edition will also be available on October 6 and will cost $49.99.

Season Pass 2

Ah yes, the media info lists a Season Pass 2 as optional paid downloadable content. Zero details are mentioned or confirmed. The first Season Pass for the game included three livery packs: Throwback, Patriotic, and Playoff.

This is all in lieu of a separate 2022 game release on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles, with development focus shifting to a new platform for 2023.

However, a 2022 game will be released in the form of NASCAR Rivals for the Nintendo Switch – also featuring the current season – which launches on October 14.

UPDATE – 12:15pm ET, September 21, 2022

According to the release, “updates to the title will be seen in Race Now, Online Multiplayer and the Paint Booth.

“As for that particular rule, I asked an Astrsk PR representative if that related to the content of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series. “The 2022 content will not be available for Career Mode in Ignition” was the response I received.
