Last night, both Inklings and Octolings fans heeded the call of chaos and gathered for a Splatoon 3 launch celebration on Nintendo NY. Those in attendance enjoyed the rousing excitement leading up to its midnight release, and the store itself — plastered in vibrant imagery straight from Splatsville — had a style to match. Nintendo NY will be wearing this ink-redible look for a while yet, so if you’re in town, be sure to stop by Squid Roll!
Splatoon 3 is a new sequel for raw recruits and old players alike, introducing new features and modes never before seen in a splatoon game earlier, as fan-favorite modes resurface that have been reinvented in various ways:
- Ink with the best of ‘Em’: Use your weapons to splash vibrant ink everywhere. Cover your opponents to (temporarily) take them out and transform into Swim Form to dive into your own ink color and zoom in wherever you want. Plus, the newly added Squid Roll and Squid Surge moves help you get even messier!
- A colorful arsenal: All weapon types from previous games are back, along with some new ones. Flatten the competition with rollers, ink up close with the new (and sharp!) Splatana weapon type, stay hydrated with the new Tacticooler, or turn the tide with a range of special abilities and more to discover. Get splatting or get splat – the choice is yours!
- Scorching Turf War Battles: Loved by squiddos everywhere, this online multiplayer* mode pits two teams of four players in a three-minute battle to cover the most ground with their ink color. All-new venues such as Eeltail Alley, Scorch Gorge, Mincemeat Metalworks, and Undertow Spillway join several returning venues such as Museum d’Alfonsino, Hammerhead Bridge, and Mahi-Mahi Resort. Twelve stages await your colorful artistry, with more coming in free updates after launch. Splat it out to get the total win!
- Square off in Splatfest events: Cast your vote from one of three sides and gain influence for your Splatfest team in 4-v-4 Turf War battles and the new colorfully chaotic Tricolor Turf War – a mode where three teams fight simultaneously and the first- place team must defend itself in a unique 4-v-2-v-2 battle.
- Anarchy Battles: This new mode will put your skills to the test! Put your tentacles on the line and engage in wild battles to climb the ranks in goal-based matches to prove you’re the most sea-sunk squid around. Take on a challenge yourself? Select Anarchy Battle (Series). And if you want to team up with friends, Anarchy Battle (Open) is the way to go.
- Work together in Salmon Run: Ink with friends** and fend off waves of dangerous (and now sometimes gargantuan) Salmonid bosses in this freshly updated, frenetic four-player team mode that’s now always available to play.
- Return of the Mammals: Want to swim solo and get familiar with the game? Join Agent 3 in a furry fight against unruly Octarians and discover the secrets of Alterna and the Fuzzy Ooze in this all-new single-player story mode. Playing this mode also prepares you for the chaos of multiplayer!
- An ocean of dripping: Show off your flashy fashion with new and expanded customization options and improve your game by visiting the shops of Splatsville. Put on the latest outfits, celebrate with emotes, decorate your locker and stay updated with the seasonal catalog. Now look forward to collecting items from the in-game Season 1 catalog – each season lasts for three months, so it won’t be long before something new appears. Additional free updates and large-scale paid DLC are also planned for the future!
Splatoon 3 is available now on Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch, the My Nintendo Store, and select retailers for a suggested retail price of $59.99 ($79.99 Canadian). Plus, Squid Surge in style with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Splatoon 3 Edition for a suggested retail price of $74.99 ($99.99 Canadian) and Splatoon 3 Nintendo Switch themed carrying case for a suggested retail price of $24.99 ($32.99 Canadian) – both products are available now.
